I am pretty damn happy with my 600SDI and it is just broken in now.

My renegade would stay with or beat the Firecat F7's, 03 Blair Morgan Rev and an 02 MXZ 800 up to 90mph, thats when the displacement advantage comes in.

The SDI sorta falls flat at about 95mph, but hat is with my 136 skid and a 1.75 paddle track.

03or 04 makes the difference.
The 03 800 or 600 HO is great! but there are issues with studding.
The 04 is much easier to stud , but needs gearing to pick up the speeds.
My 04 800 HO is almost as good on fuel as the 600 HO and even close to the SDI units maybe a dollar off In Can. Funds.

If you plan on modding your 600, dont bother. Just get a 800 and be done with it.

First figure out where the majority of your riding will be. If you say trail riding, then go with the 600SDI. This is what I have and the engine's power is more then I need. I went the the X package Renegade and it's awesome. I ride with my buddy who has an 02 MXZ800. He only inches away at 80+mph. How many times do people actually go WOT? Is it worth the extra dollars? Not in my opinion. Not the sled price, the gas price or the insurance price. I like to ride hard and aggressive, I'll tell you honestly that I think the throttle has touched the bar maybe twice. You won't be disappointed with the power or speed. I think that handling and trail manners are way more important then whether or not you can top out once or twice a season 5 mph faster then the other guy. NOW, if you say your going to run on lakes....then factor in how much time you actually get to ride on lakes....don't forget they take a while to freeze up to a point of being safe. Most importantly, the REV platform is terrible for high speeds. Case in point, the new MACH platform is lowrider compared to the REV. Hope I've helped you out.

With a few mods my '03 600ho will hang right with the 800's. It's quicker in the trails and lighter. Very impressive for a 600!

Raced, 2 '03 800 (1 in rev, 1 in zx) ho and 2 '03 600 ho(1 in rev, 1 in zx) . . . niether of these 600 ho's could touch the 800 ho's, don't get me wrong they run good and everything, but the second they pull out of the whole the 800 ho's pulled away hard and continued to. I was surprised wth the zx 800 ho. It could pull away from that 800 ho rev, and the zx is heavier with a heavier guy on it, and it also had the 2002 reed valves. These sleds were all stock except for the clutching on all of them and the 800 zx ho had extrovert drivers. These sled were all summits also. If you want the power, acceleration, and top end, go for the 800 ho, especially if you would ever think about modding. don't waste money on making a 600 run like a 800. (unless you like having a smaller cc that kicks a bigger cc's ###) w00t

I have an '03 600ho and I really like it. It will hang with any sled on the trails and bumps and will hold on to the '03 Rev 800 till about 75mph. That's enough for me and my little 6, and I like getting 2 or 3 more miles to the gallon.

Can't say how it complares to the 800ho, haven't experienced it. I DO know that I wish I'd waited for the SDI.

If I could have had the performance I've got now with better mileage, lower oil consumption, easier starting/idling and lower emmissions in all temps and altitudes ...

I'll wait now .....

I've got a REV MXZX 800 HO and yes, it has plenty of power but I also have an old Yamaha 580 cc with a pipe and clutch kit that's nearly as fast in the trails and about 150 lbs lighter. My guess is the 600HO with a pipe would be a good 50 lbs lighter and a lot more fun on the trails than the 800. But if you like to lake race too then no question, get the 800. Don't expect to hang with the Cats tho as the REV is not a speed platform as others have pointed out. Bottom line for me - for what you'd spend on the 800 HO you could pipe and clutch the 600 to be a better sled for the trails and still have money to put on some nice after market racing shocks. You'd get way better gas mileage and lower insurance rates too.

Anyone wanna trade a tricked out 04 600 REV for my '03 800 MXZX?

Ride fast, take chances!
