Hi,

I've just bought my first sled - a 94 STX 583 RAVE. It runs strong, and I really like it, but it's runnning a bit rich. I've fouled the PTO plug a couple of times - twice in 300 kms. I'm using stock main jets (340/350) and the needle clip is in the 3rd position (as per the manual).

I've read here that Skidoo issued a bulletin about changing the clip to position #2 - does anyone know if that applies to my sled?

Yes, I bought my 94 STX new and luckily my dealer knew enough to drop the needles one notch.I'm not sure if there was actually a factory update or not.I bet there's still lots of sleds that haven't had this done.It pretty much eliminates fouled plugs and increases the fuel mileage dramatically. You will be impressed :)They changed the jetting for 95 320/330 main jets, pilot jets up to a 40 from a 35 and a different needle as well.My dad bought a new 95 and my 94 with the dropped needles outperformed his 95 in everyway including mileage.

Thanks - I appreciate the quick reply!

I'll do that and check it out tomorrow. I'll be glad of the extended range also - Currently I get about 3.7kms per litre. The guys I ride with suggest that that's not great.

That works out to just over 10 miles per Imp gal.

I used to get around 16 miles per Imp gal cruising on good trails in N Ont. at 50mph on my '95 STX.
