History was made at the S.L.S.A "Battle at the Bay" III on Saturday February 21, 2004, when Chris Hanson aboard Lyn Andersons' twin engine 1400cc on NOS, reached a speed of 175.57mph in a professionally measured 1000ft track!!!!

On behalf of S.L.S.A we would like to thank Lyn Anderson, Chris Hanson, Wayne Rue, and their crew for letting us be a part of this history making event.

Complete speed run results to follow...

I was wondering when they were going to open that thing up!!! I was going to go, but got deflected that morning, now I'm really bummed. Did he make a backup run? Will it qualify for a world record? Need more info please.

They ran a 167+ run for shakedown. The Casino will have record plaque on the wall. The crowd was real quiet when they came to the line. There was a big cheer when the speed came up on the readout. The other open mods ran 150-160. Marv Jorganson's Jaws ran a 155 finally. But this took the cake. If he didn't spin, it might have been a 180.

87qtno2,
Do you know how fast Sylvie was running at the 1000' mark? That would be interesting. MAN these sleds are getting fast. I think if you ran the twin engine 2000' you would be looking at somewhere in the 230-240 mph range? just guessing based on that 1000' run. Great job every body!!!

I think they would ...a two stroke mill only needs to be jetted properly to live longer.
Thanks for reply

How come the 2000' foot thing always comes up??? Yes these engines will make it that far. But why? Most sleds reach terminal velocity at 1/4 mile if set up right. Many will start to slow down after that. I guess it doesn't matter, this speed will be hard to beat no matter what distance...... :(

Why did 87qtnoz put his speeds on this persons topic? Seems mildly inconciderate to me. Hats off to Chris Hansen and Lyn Anderson and crew! Im very interested to see if they could match the speed of Marv Jorgensons JAWS 111 190mph 1/4 mile. Again Congrats to all including all the support that help make this happen.

Just checked out the video it was totally unreal!!! I only watched it about 15 times.............So far. Chris Hansen did a great job of driving he peddled perfectly and recovered to save the run. WOW that was cool. It would have been great to hit it from behind with radar to see how fast the over run was...Im betting 185+++

On behalf on everyone in our team at Anderson Chassis I would like to thank Jeff, Troy, Kurt, Jason, Brian and the rest of the crew from SLSA for putting on a first class event. It was a great track and a great venue for racing.

Personally it was a experience that I don't think I could describe in word's.

Congratulations need to go out to Wayne Simpson, for his 165.8mph Guinness Record pass. It isn't easy go get these machines to go fast. If it was everybody would be doing it.
Good Job Wayne. See ya soon?

Anyone with pictures please feel free to send them to me. I forgot the Digital camera at the house. DOH!

Chris, I just saw the video, it is amazing how much ice you guys shoot out when you take off! It would be interesting to walk the track after your run to see how long you spun the track for!
See you guys in North Bay!
