This is a compromising Pic of the Dave's(BellevilleMXZ) wife,

That's all I am posting for now.

Honestly, I had the chance to ride with some of the nicest people I have ever met this weekend.

Dave and Charlene, Mike and Sue Ann, and Revrnd the day was great,

I'm heading to bed right now but I'll post a full update tomorrow.

The saturday group ride looked like 15 ski doos kidnapped a couple of polaris's

It was a sea of yellow in the haliburton highlands.

I really wish I had my helmet cam running for that day. Permafrost and CrazyB were running point and I spent the day as the SW sheepdog, making sure our flock stayed together, anyone that complains about the power or fuel milage of the Ski Doo SDI is doing something wrong because I rode probably 1 1/2 times the milage that everyone else did, going back and forth to round up strays and I was always about $3-5 cheaper on fuel than the non-SDI sleds. That 600 mill did not see the low side of 8000rpm once on any lake as I was riding off the marked trail in the slush and deep snow. I am very impressed with this sled.

I think we should have given awards to the ladies in the group, these girls can ride.

Jacqui583: Hotrod Babe, I kept hearing this exhaust creeping up on me when I would get to mid-pack and slow down slightly, every time i looked over it was Jacqui going by me at 90+mph I understand why, Jeff, or Trailblazer has a throttle like a lightswitch and apparently the off setting is broken, this is one fast couple.

LadyK gets the "I don't know where the hell I am going" award for leading the whole group into the wrong bay. The 800 'Gade sure moves cause no one could reel her in.

Fastest sled easily goes to Brian(MXZWFO) Keith(Idooski) wasn't revealing his true capabilities, apparently his riding style makes Donna(Mrs. Idooski) nervous.

MikeD and his wife SueAnn were up for an award until the potato comments started.

My favorite part of the weekend was following Dave St. Louis to Algonquin lodge on Sunday, this guy can ride.

The Hard Charger/MVP award for the weekend has to go to Dave's wife, Charlene St. Louis.

After 2 crashes, a bent trailing arm and enough slush to fill a quikymart she beat that 440 fan to death and kept up with us all day long.

Thank you to everyone for an amazing weekend, I can't wait until next year.

Well I'm back at work now (back to reality!) but WHAT AN AWESOME WEEKEND!

Trailblazer and I got up there early Friday morning after driving through the night and after a nice breakfast we headed out for an all-day ride. There was a light snowfall happening with the temps hovering around the freezing point and the trails were in great shape. We saw lots of other sleds on the trails and wondered at each one, "is that someone from SW?" We headed back to the Pinestone in time for the "meet and greet" where we finally got to put faces to so many of the names on here. What a great group of people! We had an early night because we'd been up for two days straight, so someone else will have to report on the late night activities.

We all met up for the big ride at 9:00 on Saturday morning. There were several groups formed to accommodate people's riding style with some shorter loops planned and some longer ones. There was about 18 of us in our group. Perm, DPaige and CrazyB did an incredible job guiding our group. It was a great mix of running the tight twisties through the bush and screaming across the lakes. The lakes were a little slushy in spots and the trails were getting pretty choppy by the end of the day which kept it challenging! We made amazing time heading back to the resort after lunch when you consider that we had 18 sleds to keep an eye on while riding good and hard, which to me just speaks to the riding ability of everyone in our group. We had dropped to the back of the pack after dusk and I'll never forget the sight of seeing tail lights as far as you can see snaking through the trails as we blasted our way through the power lines; it really was incredible.

Back at the resort we joined up for the raffle for Autism, the can drive and some amazing camaraderie. I have some great memories from this weekend that I'll treasure for a long time to come. LadyK and Perm are every bit as awesome in person as they are on this site; DPaige and his colour commentary; MikeD and his war stories that had us all splitting a gut; Wolfman running open water on that 380 fan; and on and on.

The only disappointment about the whole weekend is that we'll probably have to wait until next year to be able to ride with most of these awesome people again!

The Doctor was OUT

Out at Pinestone, Out on the lake, Out to Dorset and Out enjoying our sport with a really terrific bunch of enthusiasts. Arrived Friday Night at the bar (Apres Sleddin) to put a face to all the handles in here. Thanks to 800XRev (Scott & Monique) for doing a great job on the t-shirt front and MCing the get together. I tagged along with Team Idooski for the rides and they were kind enough to go real slow so this ole fart could keep up LOL. Here is Team Idooski's pit area before take off Saturday. We Made about 150 miles that day.

Well I definitely echo Jacqui's comments on the weekend.
We talked most of the 5-6 hour drive home about the many memories that'll be with us forever. One that Jacqui forgot to mention in her post.
CrazyB's out take of "West Side Story." He'll never convince any of us fortunate enough to witness his rendition that he didn't practice for hours in front of a mirror. :D BTW-We know you're lurking and reading these.

The many funny comments flying back and forth all weekend were hilarious.
My cheeks are still sore from laughing.

LadyK, Perm, Dpaige, and any others that contributed to organizing this great gathering, words can never express our gratitude.

DPaige, Did you go back to Dorset?
BTW-I love your new signature, Pinestone Sheepdog.
How apropriate. :D

Andy Dragon and Flower Picker. It was nice seeing you two again. Hope to bump into you two again some time soon. :D

800XRev and "The World Famous Monique," thanks for getting the awesome Pinestone Ride T shirts made up. I hope you get them all sold.
I also hope you get things straightened out with Pinestone to your satisfaction.
Sorry to hear things didn't work out for you.
I must say that Jacqui and I had absolutely no problems with the resort or their excellent, friendly, courteous and professional staff.
Monique, I hope your wrist heals up real quick. I hear you were lucky to have Thumbdoctor there to come to your rescue.

To all those that contributed to the Autism Fundraising Raffle, Thanks. We raised $444 for an excellent cause and received some great prizes to take home with us.
Thanks to Paul Yarek and Pete Behnke who did an excellent and entertaining job distributing the goodies.

Here's a pic of Jacqui and I on our Friday ride.

My helmet is off to the female contingency of our group, I'd be proud to enduro race with those gals any time!. I had a gas keepin up the back of team Idooski and a big thanks goes to Lady K, Permafrost and CrazyB for leading us out of harms way and along some of the greatest back country sleddin I've done in years. Sheep Dog is a fitting name for Donovan (DPaige) for keeping the lost flocks on track and demonstrating his fearless use of H2o. I declined from the water hazard as it would be too funny explaining to my insurance adjuster that I voluntarily went in the drink in full view of some 200 witnesses. I'd probably stall & sink !!!. Here is day 2 at the pits. I'm sure Idooski's gang will have lots more photos when they get home tonight. I left my clunky camera behind to save weight of these aerobic rides and aerobic drinking exercises after.

I just wanted to add my thanks to those who did an awesome job organizing this ride. I had an awesome time riding and meeting everyone. I also wanted to thank those who sponsored all the great prizes for the raffle. I'm looking forward to watching Sled Ed tonight. Our room was good and the housekeeping staff and Pinestone staff were great. Especially our wait staff last night at dinner. Kim and Jeff, I know I've said this before, but I really loved yesterday's ride. It was the best riding I've ever done and you guys are lucky to live in such a beautiful and diverse riding area.

It was great to see Jacqui and Jeff again. We'll have to do a ride together real soon.

Scot and Monique, I'm so sorry that your holiday sucked. I know how much you were looking forward to the ride.

Steve, Brian et al, I'm sorry that you guys were disappointed too. Saturday was fun with you all, as always. You guys always know how to have fun on the trails and the hot chocolate was delicious!!

Crazy B..I hope that your chaffed bum heals in time for the next ride. Remember to carry a bottle of baby powder around in your sled for emergency purposes!

MikeD..I was still chuckling on the way home over your story. Your poor wife! LOL Just remember that tonight you'll have a good night's sleep. :)

Powder,

We split into 2 groups for this Very reason.

I asked everyone how they wanted to ride and offered to lead the faster group to Dorset.

I can assure you that NO ONE, and I MEAN NO ONE was left behind in Our group.

I rode nearly twice as many miles as everyone else in our group for this very reason, I wasn't letting anyone stay behind or break down without help.

Our whole group was this way, Trailblazer came with me to look for 1 group that fell behind and others did the same throughout the day

Permafrost, CrazyB and I kept asking if the pace was OK and everyone agreed.

If you had problems, we are all sorry, but don't blame us for them.

i wasn't told what group i was in or who i should follow so it was very confusing at the start of the ride.plus one of our friends broke down in the parking lot :cussing: which sucked for them.then another one of our friends broke down in the middle of one of the lakes :cussing: :( i just wanted to meet some new people and it just didn't happen.why was there not a general meeting area like a trail junction or food stop so that i could socialize with all the new faces i saw on friday night?what was the big hurry?
We weren't told ahead of time either whom to ride with, so we went over to where everyone was congregating and asked what the lineup was. Then we made our choice of who we wanted to ride with based on our riding style.

While I agree that socializing is a fun part of meeting everyone, frankly we were there to ride. I can't speak for anyone else, but Trailblazer and I figured we would be socializing in the evening after the ride, and we wanted to as they say "make hay while the sun shines".

We're sorry about your bad experience; hopefully you won't write off next year because of it.

dpaige

Powder,

There was no hurry,

Some of us here probably have significantly more riding experience that you do and were interested in riding at a brisk pace.

We had a 440cc fan cooled sled that kept up just fine so the pace was not that fast by any stretch.

Your "STOPTIONAL" picture to me means that you are saying that we were riding unsafe, and I take this as a personal insult on myself and everyone else in the group I was leading.

There were 17 of us and I am sure you can ask any one of them and they will tell you that My concern, and the concern of everyone else in the group was safety at all times.

Everyone has bad days, usually bad things happen to me.

Please do not discourage or mislead anyone that was not there by posting inaccurate information.

MikeD, his wife Sue-Ann , and DP were kind enough to hang back so we didn't get lost. And I can't thank them enough :) . Its fun when your at the front of the pack, but not when you get left behind on a slushly lake,in blowing snow, when you have no idea where you are. :( This is in no way your fault Jackie, just making a point. HI Guys ... SA and I are back and I finally got a chance to sit down and read all this, I'll post my pics later but for now I just to say what a pleasure the entire week end was. SA and I have NEVER met so many people at one time and "clicked" with them all. What a great group!

I really don't know what my favourite part was but at the end of a week end filled with 450 miles of mixed riding all I can say is ....

my wife didn't crash Friday
my wife didn't crash Saturday
and my wife didn't crash Sunday ..... and I didn't have to ride her "obviously posessed" sled back to base at any time :D To me, that pretty much identifies a perfect week end

I promise, I'll get around to pics (and my own colourful commentary) shortly ...

Laurie and I had just the best time. Thanks to Paul for letting us crash at his place.

Special thanks to Kim and Jeff for organizing this whole thing.Without them, this would not have happened.

Great to meet all of the attendies.

Jim Fritch and his wife(sorry, forgot her name :undercover: ) did not make the raffle on Saturday night. Instead, they helped out a family that ran out of gas. They did not get back until 1:30 AM. It takes some real class to do what he did! 3 cheers for Jim,shirt off your back kind of guy. I'll ride with you anytime.

I have alot more to say,but its bedtime!!!!!!!!!

Kim,

It was a lot of fun riding with you and Darrin (always is!) and I'm looking forward to the ride out to the Tomb this weekend. I'll even lend you a tea kettle if you want one :) I'm so sorry about your break down that day but we still had a ton of fun before that happened. I think your sled was just jealous because you were drooling all over mine. hehehe

It would be fun to do a ride here next year. Lots of great trails in this area for those interested.

Finally getting a chance to chime in here. We had a great time as well, and am sorry to hear about Powder's experiences....but I really don't understand. The ride that was supposed to start at 9 Sat morning, really didn't start for about another hour, so it wasn't like the gang was screaming out of the lodge's parking lot. At any time in the future, I would be happy to ride with every person I met on this trip.

Unfortunately, Deb (there you go Pete, lol) and I did not get to spend as much time with the group as we would have liked to. Our friends, Ken and Ann, and us got up there late Tuesday evening. The next day, we didn't start riding 'til after lunch. We clicked 170 miles that day, and it was the first time our wives had ridden for about 5 years, so they did great. On Haliburton Lake, Ken and I opened it up a little bit; when I got to the other end, I pulled up the top speed on the gps, and there was 103mph....not too bad for just playing around. I thought we would have more opportunities for some lakebed blasts, but never really did.

The next day was spent by the wives in the massage parlor and hottub area. Ken and I spent the day trying to fix/replace my recoil, which broke just as we returned to the lodge the night before. This led us to an interesting local fellow that works on Cats out of his garage, and he was full of stories. He also had a bunch of old sleds.....including one of the original King Cats (70's 4 cyl sled, less than 150 produced I believe) in excellent condition. He had a number of other vintage Cats that are sure to be worth some money...all tucked under covers around his garage. No riding was done this day....it was a recovering time for all of us. We met up with Bryan (Wolfman) too and he hung out in our trailer while trying to put my sled back together.

On the third day, we took off towards Minden...what a mistake. That town is very hard to get around on sled, as you have to go right through downtown, and they don't leave much snow on the streets for the sleds. We ended up eating dinner in Carnorvan (sp?) and worked our way back to the lodge. I believe this was the evening that most of the group met in the lodge's bar. It was great to finally put some faces to the names. That Yarek will keep you in stitches. I met Kris, Paul, Pete, Lauri, DP, Kim, Jeff, James, Mike D, his wife, Crazy B, Scott, Monique, Dave, and prob a few others that I can't quite remember. It was truly a pleasure to meet up with these folks.

On Saturday, the four of us weren't ready in time to leave with the group, so we figured we would meet up with them in Dorset. Ken got stuck in the deep stuff on the lake behind the Pinestone, so they were kinda scared about going on any other lakes. After lunch, they decided to head back to the lodge after trying to cross Little Hawk Lake. Deb and I kept going, and crossed about 4 lakes on the way to Dorset to cut off some time. Low and behold, we came to an intersection and I see Pete, Lauri, Paul, and I think James taking a break. We stopped and chatted for a while, then headed up to Dorset. When going across the last lake before Dorset, I hollared at Deb through the communicators to move the hell over....looked like swarm of yellow bumblebees coming right at us....sure enough, it was the rest of the gang coming back from Dorset. I wanted to turn around then and play along with them, but we also wanted to see Dorset, so we kept going. Got to Dorset and they had a black Doo on the shores, stripped trying to get it running again after going in the drink. After about 45 min, I heard it fire up from inside the bar. About 5 sleds crossed the water (the LONG way DP!!!!) while we were there. That town is pretty neat around the bridge. From there it was all downhill for us.

We had planned to be back at the lodge for the raffle and socialization. About an hour or so south of Dorset, we were at an intersection deciding which way to turn. A group of four sleds pulls up from our left. It's a father, his wife, and two teenage kids, all on their own sleds. He was obviously lost, as he was asking me for directions (shows just how messed up this guy was, LOL). To add to the fun, all 4 of his sleds were on the big E, and we were no where near a gas station. I told him which way I thought we had to go, and he eventually followed. About 5 miles down the trail, one of his runs out. So I had to stop, pull the sled aroudn, go back and help him tie it up for towing. About another 3 miles down the road, another one of his runs out. So now this guy insists on pulling both sleds in tandem behind his 700 (they were all Doo's). It didn't take long to encounter the first little hill and I could just smell his belt melting. One of the tow straps busted, and I was able to talk him into leaving the sleds off the side of the trail, but he insisted on staying out there with the sleds. So I lead my wife (with his daughter riding two up with her), his son, and his wife into town, at a moderate speed to conserve as much fuel as possible. Finally we made it back to Little Hawk Lake, and found a gas pump in the back of a bar/cottage grounds. Filled the sleds and a 5 gallon can up and headed back to the father and his two sleds. Thanks to the gps, I marked where he was down, and from the gas pump, I could see a much shorter route to get back to him using county roads. Put a couple gallons of gas in each of the dead sleds, and headed back to town so they could fill them up too. From there, Deb and I were still about 3 hours away from the lodge, and the trails were showing the wear from a busy Saturday. We finally got back around 1:30 in the morning, and missed the whole raffle.

The next morning (Sunday) we met up with Kim, Jeff, and Crazy B at breakfast, and saw Pete, Lauri, DP, and Paul before they all headed out for a last ride. Wish we could have gone, but we needed to start loading things up for the long ride home. We got into Detroit (where we dropped off the kids with Grandma and Grandpa on the way up) around 9 pm, then left a little after noon the next day for our final leg home. Arrived in sunny southern Illinois around midnight Monday.

It was truely a blast to meet the folks we did. Deb and I are definately up for another Ontario (and SW trip, no matter where it is) trip. We both agree that you Canadians aren't that bad after all, LOL!!! DP, we'll be taking you up on your offer sometime soon.

And hats off to Kim (and Jeff, allthough Kim did all the work, lol) for all the time and effort she put in to this event, only for the name of fun. I know the last week was a tough one for you guys, with getting the sleds back together and your little girl having to visit the dentist. We (speaking for all who attended) really appreciate all your efforts. The Pinestone was an excellent choice for this type of event...the whole staff was very accommodating with any of our requests. The food and people in all the establishments along the way were excellent.

We look forward to the next chance to get together with fellow SW riders. Pete, hopefully we can hook up for the second weekend in March, if the snow permits.

I will post some pics tonight hopefully, if I can get my high speed connection going at home.

Thanks to all we met, it was our pleasure.

Now that Sw is back on line, I want to post my rendition of the trip SWRules

It was great to finally meet so many that we have talked to for so long. For the ride we were blessed with snow starting friday and ending early sunday morning.
The ride on saturday was to Dorset then to hunstville and then back to the Pinstone. All in all it was a great ride. There was no blow ups or crashes. Just two blown belts and a wee love tap w00t (Jacqui PM me and I will send you that part)
I didn't hit her ,I just have a spare part for her machine. There was some slushy spots but there was 3.5 feet of ice underneath. The beaten paths on the lakes were good, but off them it was easier to find slush.

We stopped at the end of every lake and did a head count. Dp and I were in communication during the entire ride. So that NOBODY in our group was left behind or lost. If they were lagging a bit behind a Recon team was sent out to find them, within a few minutes. There was 18 sleds in our group so it was a BIT challenging keeping them all together. Considering the size of the group I think it went pretty good.

Team Nimrod was a no show :nimrod: w00t

On Sunday we rode with a smaller group of comparatively matched sleds through the power line to whitney. Had a bit of off trail fun and did a few hill assaults then it was off to Whitney for lunch. Ran into Paul Yarek and his Posse there. Mxz7, Laurie, Me&MyMxz583. Paul prefers to run in a small tight group as not many are able to keep up to the Raw riding power of Paul yarek on his new Rev w00t :undercover:  We arrived back at the pinestone right around dark same as saturday. LadyK got bucked off her gade following me accross a ugly swampy area(off trail). Nobody even noticed, some things are better not seen.

Had a really nice dinner on Sunday night with CrazyB, Andy Dragon, Flower picker. Also got to chat with wolfman, Jim Fritch and Wife, and Tunedbyear.

Had an amazing time and cant wait for next year SWRules

OOOOPS! almost forgot 1 ...... here's DP on his sled. 2 things to note ..

1) yes, he's actually standing (it made him feel better, at least this way he was as "tall in the saddle" as the other riders whom, by the way, were sitting)

2) take a look at the sheer size of his lid. when he told us how much it cost we attributed it to the additional fibreglass, resin and hardener that had to be shipped in the fill the size XXXXXXXXXXL order ....... and to the fact that he had to get his own postal code to accept delivery. What a noggin!

Thanks to Tony Soprano (Paul Yarek) and Bill Murray(mxz7) for MCing the raffle :D Thanks to Scott for the awesome tshirts. Thanks to ALL our sponsors. For those of you who brought me prizes please PM me names and snail mail addy so I can send a letter of recognition and thanks. Thanks to all of you who came we raised $444 CAD for autism research and filled a huge box for the local food bank. I received a letter from them today,

Dear Snowmobilers,
On behalf of the board members of the 4c's food bank I want to thank you for your donation of food. this is a great surprise to us and a unique way of gathering canned goods.
we hope you enjoyed your visit in our area and had good snowmobiling, the Delta is a great place to stay.
We always feel so blessed that we can count on our local residents and others to help support the needs of the Food Bank. Toronto should have sharing and giving people like we do up north.

Most Sincerely,
Ave Petch
4C's Food Bank, & Lily Anne, Chairperson, Aveline Petch

Give yourselves a pat on the back you all helped other people as well as had some fun.

Saturday's ride brought back lots of fun memories for me. When I first started riding all riding time was spent in that area dooing runs from Deerhurst as a base on my little ole 500. I," Queen of the Wrong Turn " led us into the wrong bay letting the gade stretch her legs :dazed: But only 1 wrong turn all day  Went to Huntsville looking for the Golden Griddle at Hidden Valley but it is some weird place now but we ate there anyways. Food was strange :dazed: Not a cheese sandwich in sight :( Stopped and checked out the water skippers in Dorset for a bit and DP decided his track was a little dirty and needed some washing  Then off to hidden valley. The way back was a good ride as the groomer had been around a few of the spots. I stayed back off the first lake for DP while he did some "testing" w00t Then we rode back to Pinestone and to our rooms to shower and get ready for the night. Everyone met up at the pub except for a few sorely missed members. Then off to the confrence room for the raffle. everyone went home with a prize. All our sponsors where very generous and we had lots of great prizes. sunday we rode the trails by my house our usual run when at home the Whitney powerline. :D :D :inlove: We toured through Algonquin Park and had some lunch and met Mr.Yarek, Pete, Laurie & James. While riding through a swamp I got bucked from my trusty steed when I hit a frozen nub, maybe a deadhead? Then headed back to the hotel while the sun set orange and pink on the snow. The day seemed to blow by and end too quickly. Monday we packed up and got ready to head home. I had chaffed bottom too much to ride on Monday  All in all a great ride with some wonderful people. Thanks alot everyone !!! See ya next year SWRules SWRules

No,it* wasn't fun. The wifes only does about 30 mph in that stuff, and we got left behind too many times. MikeD, his wife Sue-Ann , and DP were kind enough to hang back so we didn't get lost. And I can't thank them enough :) . Its fun when your at the front of the pack, but not when you get left behind on a slushly lake,in blowing snow, when you have no idea where you are. :(* This is in no way your fault Jackie, just making a point. I can honestly say if DP hadn't been there, it would have been a real bad ride, at least for us.He did a SUPER job of keeping an eye on things.
I definitely see your point and we all felt for you all day long. Even more so when we heard some of the other stuff that happened during the day that we didn't witness. We even talked about how parts of the ride had to just suck for some people. My wife, Donna, was furious about all the slush (what a time to have communicators, eh?) until I just told her to pin it and ride it out and she realized what riding on water was all about. I didn't realize just how bad a time you guys were having. We never heard a peep from you until we made it to lunch. If we had known what a hard time you were having, Donna and I, Scott and Teri, and Simon would have gladly ridden back with you and maybe hit some other (less watery) trails. I enjoyed the ride a great deal, but I know how it can be to feel miserable for a ride on the snow. I've been there. I would much rather see you enjoy a ride within your abilities than worry about how much fun I am having.

But I need to stress very strongly that in ANY group that I ride with, no one, and I mean NO ONE ever gets left behind. NEVER!!. Donovan did a huge favor to all by riding shepherd all day Saturday. I'm here to tell you that if he hadn't done it, I would have and will gladly volunteer to do it at any upcoming rides. I do it every weekend. I am the one that takes charge and keeps everyone together. If one persons ride goes sour due to a breakdown, we talk about it and resolve the issue, then we move on or we decide to bag it and all return. No one gets left, no one goes back alone. If the head count is off, then 2 riders go back to see if there is a problem. Not one rider alone. My wife and I have communicators in our helmets and a lot of times she will bring up the rear just so she can tell me if anyone has a problem.

Just wanted to let you know that you weren't alone on the trails.

I sincerely hope that we get to ride with you guys again. Please don't let one bad ride keep you from going to the next. We are definitely looking forward to it. In fact we are thinking about a trip to Wawa before it's over for this year. Any takers?

DP
awesome, thats the way it should be, thats being a good leader. wish i could have been there sounds like it was lot of fun, dont know how the ol' MX would have made out though. :p

It would have been better if she had something with more power that was the problem. Next year!!

No,it wasn't fun. :( This is in no way your fault Jackie, just making a point. I can honestly say if DP hadn't been there, it would have been a real bad ride, at least for us.He did a SUPER job of keeping an eye on things.
I know where you're coming from on the slush. I had to slog it with a 380 fan. I got bogged down to 20 mph. Not fun when you're looking at slogging through who knows how deep of slush to get unstuck if you sink. However, I wouldn't trade off that experience, nor write off the ride over the slushy lake. It's an experience point, and I'm a little better rider as a result of it. As for me, I hope that I'll have a better machine for the next time I find myself in that type of situation.

Powder, you guys had the old Formula MX right? Breakdonws are always frustrating. It was my understanding that everything had been taken care of when we continued on. You guys were not out of our minds as we rode on. We all hoped that you guys made it back OK. With as badly as I wanted to have the JD ready for this ride, I can say wholeheartedly that I'm glad that I wasn't able to bring it. With as hard as I ran that 380 to keep up with the big sleds, I truly believe that I would have burned that old thing up, and would have been in the same situation as you guys ended up in had I brought it as originally planned. On this ride, I was very much a follower, and depended on the guides to know where we were going, and how far. When they stopped, I stopped, and when they rode, I rode. When we got seperated on the lake briefly, everyone waited for me to get my bearings straight, and get back with the group.

I believe that the "short and slow" group did not work out as originally planned. I know that we had a tough time finding the trail on the large slushy lake. I know that at the Minden cutoff in the trails, several of the riders in our group broke off there to return back to Pinestone. All I knew of that group was that some were very concerned about the lake running. At the end, we were down to five, and eventually four after CrazyB took off to reunite with Permafrost and the rest. I hadn't originally planned on a 125 mile day on Saturday. I still wouldn't trade it for anything. By the end of that day, I felt that I was a markedly improved rider.

As for the organization, considering the size of the group, IMO, it went very well. It is very difficult to get several large groups set up, and keep everyone in perfect communication as to who is doing what, when and where.

Why did you not discuss this in the chat last night Powder? Who said you were the bad guy? If you want to meet people then you should of came out of your room. you did not even come to the raffle on saturday night to support our fundraising efforts. What did you imagine, the fact that you stopped for 30 minutes during the trail ride to play on water. We were on a trail ride not a play day. We had ground to cover and didnt want to be riding the lakes at night. Regardless you were in a different group. The fact that you were doubling on a one up sled might have some bearing on your outlook also. My understanding is that she has back problems to begin with and was hitting you in the back before we even hit the trails. As a matter of fact I was the last person to leave on saturday making sure everyone got started.
The vast majority of the attendees had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I am getting really tired of you coming in here and having nothing to say, but slagging the ride. Maybe you have more issues than we know about seeing that you have some kind of obsession to post pics of scantily clad men.

Powder, I'm sorry that you didn't have a good time. I'm not sure how you are in regarding to meeting new people. Generally, I am a recluse. In my case, I had to make a concerted effort to make sure that I found, and met fellow riders. If I hadn't, then I would have been pretty much alone the entire trip, and wouldn't have had any fun. I went where the people were, and intermingled that way. I also offered a hand anytime that it looked like somebody might need one. When it came to the main event Saturday, I purposefully asked which group was which. It insured that I knew who I was going to be riding with, so that I could maximize my enjoyment of the ride. The results were being one of what seeemed to be one of the relatively few to meet Jim Fritch, getting invited to Scott & Monique's chalet for pizza and drinks, as well as having those that I rode with, aware of my experience level and general running speed on the trails.

These types of gatherings are ones where you have to go up to people on your own. To wait for them to approach you, just isn't going to work. To dog on people here just plain isn't right. Scott specifically invited me out to ride Sunday during Saturday's events. In his case, I turned down the invite as I couldn't possibly visuallize keeping up with a former sno-cross rider. Hopefully, I'll be able to make good on that invite next year, and go on a ride with him. I'd love to be able to see him riding at his limits. Permafrost and one other person both helped me get the suspension of that rental sled adjusted so that the thing wouldn't beat the crap out of me on the trails. I was also offered the same by MXZWFO and Sawman on our first day out. Reverend was instrumental in making sure that our group was together as best as possible, and when we were down to just four of us, making sure that I was keeping up. Everybody was more than patient with me while I was dealing with blind riding from a fogging problem, causing me at one point to get seperated from the group.

IMO, the evenings events got started off late on purpose. Many people were late getting back to the resort that night. Kim wanted the best possible turnout. Again, meeting in the lounge with the rest of the group would have insured that you would have made the raffle.

Me, too Paul. I worked a LOT of hours to get away from here and drove a lot of hours (not as many as some) to get there. I had a great time!! No question about it. I believe all that were involved in the planning did an excellent job. I'm sure that some things could have been done differently, but live and learn. How many have been to an organized snowmobile riding event of this size before to be able to compare? I'm betting not many if any. I have organized large events before and there is an extremely huge amount of work and time that needs to be invested. If you were not an investor, than I think it better that you keep your complaints to yourself or at the very least be constructive with your complaints so as to make the next ride that much better. Whining doesn't help the next ride. We would like to see you all at the next one and whiners are usually too embarrassed to show again. Think about it.

I think that Corey, LadyK, Permafrost, DPaige, DanR, and all the others involved in the planning process deserve a huge 'hats off' for an extremely successful event!!!

Tukes off to all of you!!

Cheers!

We had a great ride on Thursday with MXZWFO and his wife Deb, and not to forget Wolfman (sorry about the 150 mile thing) we did not realize Wolfman it had been so long since your last ride.
We also did not get to ride with too many people Saturday because we were late getting going, my sled had trouble and had to get the spare out. But when we did hook up with a group of sw peeps helping someone out of the slush on Kenesis Lake, we enjoyed the ride!
It's not easy keeping everyone happy, but I think it went well. How can you not enjoy a day of riding?

Tempest, don't feel bad for the 150 mile ride. I enjoyed every minute of it, and wouldn't have traded that for anything. My only regret there was not taking up on the offer to adjust that suspension. I would have been better off if we would have made those adjustments. Given the chance, I'd repeat that day without a moment's hesitation. Everybody showed me an awesome time on Thursday. Due to the flaky nature of the old Sportfire that I have, and also restrictions with the rentals in Yellowstone, I'd never had a night ride before then. That was an awesome experience.

Kris, we were told 60 feet down the middle. Two Doos went down that day, a yellow one is the one your referring to I believe. When they pulled it out of the water, it came up on shore on its side  So I don't think there was much hope in it running anytime soon. The one in the pic went down right by the shoreline, so it didn't go in too deep.

A local scuba diver supposedly makes a decent income off the poor sledders that sink their sleds. We heard for $700 he will suit up and go down to tie your sled up so it can be brought to the surface. Can't blame the guy, too bad we don't have water skippers around here...would give me a chance to use my scuba gear once in a while. w00t

Looks great :) Wish I could have gone, but I'm sure my towing vehicle would have broke down 10 miles from my house......with my luck anyway

The only thing I didn't see, after reading some 15 pages, (I had to put on my glasses  ) is who had the most miles? There should be an award for that, after all, this whole event was a big ride :D I'm guessing, from the sounds of things, that it would be a one Mr. Donovan Paige.....(correct??) So, how many miles did you rack up on your sled?

Other then that, looks like there were some sunny days for riding. Those are always the best IMO   As to the organizers of this event, my hat's off to you. That is a lot of work.

Oh, one more thing, it's sure nice to see all your faces. I'm sitting here putting names and faces with your SW avatars :D :D

I sat down on sunday morning and read all 15 pages ....well if you can live the dream you might as well read about it .....lol

DP I hope the room worked out well for you .

It looks like everyone( well almost ) had a great time and made some new life long friends and riding partners .

I did not see anything mentioned about our frearless leader Cory though, did he not make it ?

Also did anyone do an actuall head count ?

Sounds and looks like you all had a great time.Besides Wolfman and his Johndeer(not present at this event )did anyone else have a vintage sled for this trip? The only sleds I own are 1980 yamiha's and would like to catch up for a ride before the snow goes north for the winter.I'm by Pine Knob music theatre in waterford and would consider sharing travel expence to any future events.

Here's the group I rode with Thursday. MXZWFO and Sawman. Also are their wives and a friend of Sawmans family. Sorry girls, I forgot your names. I'm horrible that way.

And finally, the sled that I got to ride, one Ski-Doo 380 fan 2 up touring. It's actually a testament to Ski-Doo that it got returned without being burned up trying to keep up with the big dogs. :D

Anyone notice the pic at the top of this page???

It's that sneaky bugger MikeD trying to talk his wife Sue Ann into Pilfering my renegade.

I let the guy ride it once and had to spray him with the garden hose to get him off.
