: Wife Flipped Sled
cooley 02-29-2004, 02:49 PM well my wife filpped my sled last night on an icey road. she woke up this morning with maybe a slight concusion(sp?). she just went to the hospital to get looked at, every time she moves her head she feels like she is going to vomit, and she also has a headache.... :( :(
she did good riding it all night long except for that, the sled started to spin sidways on her and she didnt know how to counter act the spin so she locked up the brake and then she went into the barrel roll.
now for the damage on the sled i need a new windshield and a new handle bar, rer-hand warmer and high beam swicth's. i can keep the gas throttle and brake lever but how much will all the other things cost? (2003 mxz renegade)
i dont care if she totaled the sled just as long as she's OK.
MXZOOoom 02-29-2004, 02:56 PM Hope your wife is fine, must have hit her head hard to feel that pain threw a helmet. Your sled can be repaired at alot cheaper cost then your wife ;)
LadyK 02-29-2004, 03:26 PM If she is nauseaus and has a bad headache, blurred vision, and dizziness I would say for sure she has a concussion. Dont let her sleep for extended periods of time and wake her intermitenly and ask her a question she should know the answer to such as her name or the date. Make sure her pupils are the same size. She should definately seek medical care. I hope she feels better soon. Sorry about your ride. You can tell her I barrel rolled my 2002 700 mxz on an icy road with only 7kms on it w00t and not to feel too bad ;) Rest ad get better soon Mrs.Cooley
Russ Wheeler 02-29-2004, 03:43 PM glad to hear she's alright (relatively)...could have been so much worse!....
...i've had my share of concusions...and this sounds like a decent one...it's really important not to let her sleep for extended periods of time, like ladyk said...it's the most annoying thing in the world getting woke up every 3 hours, but it's worth it...
i'd probably toss her old helmet too, they're only designed to absorb one good impact....so just to be safe i'd pick up a new lid...
paul yarek 02-29-2004, 04:58 PM that doesn't sound good and LadyK has given the best advice. Laurie Behnke is real cautious on roads, she says it is always slippery on roads.
CORY9 02-29-2004, 05:40 PM Hope everything turns out O.K. In the same situation my wife would have been just as bad off, not enough riding experience. Just a reminder for us all to patiently explain things to the novices.
cooley 02-29-2004, 06:31 PM well she just got back from the hospital and they gave her a cat scan and everything seems ok. just one BIG headache..
i could care less about the sled, as long as she was ok.
i :inlove: them both but i :inlove: my wife more than my sled
92Indy440 02-29-2004, 08:23 PM Good to hear that she is okay! But like Russ said, buy a new helmet. If it is a real good helmet, you can find places that will X-Ray the helmet to see if it still good, but it can be around 50$-100$.
puree 02-29-2004, 09:12 PM really hope she gets to feeling better quickly,,,,
reimagal 03-01-2004, 07:54 AM Glad to hear your wife is going to be ok!I am impressed you are more worried about your wife than your sled...heavens knows lots from this county would be more worried about their sleds!
