I know this is a bit off the clutching and gearing you guys generally work on, but I am having a problem here,,,,,

Right now the sled has a 10 tooth front gear and a 45 tooth back gear,,,,

load of power, and decent top end. Only option on it is the govener bypass kit.

I know that by lowering my ration, I can gain top end but I loose power,,,,

I am currently at a 4.5 ratio,,, but if I lower my back gear to a 35, I am then at a 3.5 ratio,,,,,,

How much of a difference it this going to make??? Do I wanna drop 5 teeth, 10 teeth, 15 teeth????? where do I start.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated,,,,

thanks in advance

If you start dropping teeth you would loose bottom power and acceleration but gain on the top end. It is just a sacrifice for top speed or acceleration. Changing down 5 teeth might make a slight difference of maybe 3-4 mph faster top end but about 1-2 seconds slower acceleration. It is just your choice in the long run. Hope this helps.

so by gearing down by 5 teeth in the back, I am gonna gain,,,, but if I was to put in a jet kit and an air box kit,,,,that would give me some more power, so maybe I wouldnt loose anything,,,,but gain top speed,,,
I am not looking to have him racing, but wanna help him move a little quicker,,,
