I was lookng at my engine, right under the exhaust, and noticed that there is black oil running down the side of the engine. I am new at this stuff, so I am not sure if this is normal or not. is it? It is not much, just thinck a layer of it.

The black goo is just excess oil from the engine. I replaced my gaskets and also used some artic cat high temp sealant. Worked great. Now I don't have to see the goo anymore.

^^^ How can this increase compression when the piston and all the compressing happens ABOVE the exhaust exit holes???

try permatex ultra black. youll never buy another kind of silicone. it works on everything. mike

Yes it is a 'normal' thing to see. Just pull off your pipe and clean/replace the gaskets and use some silicone to seal it all up good. I bought some "gasket maker" (red tube) from Canadian Tire when I put my MBRP can on and it has held up great all season.
