What would be the better sled? I mostly drift ride and ditch ride? Witch would be more reliable?
1998 SKI-DOO 500 MXZ , liquid cooled, includes cover, spare belts, and wired helmet, stored indoors, lady driven, 1,500 kms, $2,800.

1998 ARCTIC CAT ZR 500, absolutely mint, always stored in heated garage, new slides, recent work, 3,200 mi, must sell, $2,800.

Arctic Cat ZL500 1998 $3,200.00 6000 Km

: 1996 ARCTIC CAT ZR 580, 136'' track, c/w reverse, dropped & rolled chain case, excellent condition, $3,000 no gst

we just a dump of fresh snow 8 inches and still coming down so I would like to get a bit more snowmobile in before the season is over.

Thanks jolukan

eather the 98 mxz 500 or the 98 zr 500. a couple friends had the 98 mxz 580 and wasnt very happy with the way it handles. so i would give the egde to the zr. do go with the older zr, it doesnt have the ett rear suspension.

:withstupid: It would be a tough choice IMO, between the mxz and the zr. get the one in better condition.

I'd say get the Ski Doo, but I'm just a Doo guy . But really, you can't go wrong with either 98 500(don't get the ZL), if you can both both do that and see which one you fits you better.

I'm saying the same as Dawg and it would between the 98 mxz 500 and 98 ZR 500. Both sound like good sleds and the ZR 500 is an awsome sled, great handling and very powerful engine. My brother had over 5500 miles on a 98 ZL 500 with no problems until he got some water in the gas :( . I'm not sure how the Doo 500 works or handles but sounds like a good sled also.

I never go with a sled that says lady driven,,,, most around here do not think ladies ride a sled hard, so they throw it on there to make you think it is a nice sled,,,,, maybe these guys outta come on here and see how some of the ladies ride,,,,they wont put it in their ad again!!!!

Personally my opionion i would take the MXZ 500, why because im a doo guy for life, but i think the better choice dependin on the condition and i know it sounds crazy but if it were newer the zr 580 would be the better choice why. Because the 136 inch track will give u better flotation in deeper snow so ull be prone to be gettin stuck along with alot more traction.
And the ride will be alot better too suspension wise, the longer the track the better it soaks up the bumps. But all in all the way i see it go with the doo has more excessories its 2 yrs newer and $200 cheaper not a bad deal and will be more of a fun ride to play around with

I don't know if they're all this reliable and fast, but a buddy of mine rides a ZR500 and keeps up with our 800's on the trails. On rough trails we have a hard time keeping up with him (suspension is very good). On the lakes he falls back a little, but keeps up with us (couple of sled lengths behind) at least to 80 mph. Top speed is about 100 mph on hard packed surfaces.

The best part about his ZR500 - so far he hasn't had a single thing fail on it in over 5000 miles (other than breaking the frame in a major impact - we straightened it and re-welded it). He runs it wide open very regularly and for extended periods of time. Our 800 Polaris's and 800 Skidoo's blow up on a regular basis (I'm buying an RX-1 next year).

After all this abuse, his motor has started to make a minor ticking sound that I suspect is piston slap, but it's still going strong.
