Hey, iv been lookin at zr 600 efi's lately and need some feedback from you owners out there. Whats the power on these things? What kind of gas milage do you guys get in trails and in fields? any major issues youve had witht them? do you think this sled could take a mxz 500? i am going to be jumpin fairly high jumps with this snowmobile, how good is the suspension on them? what year is best? thanks for your help

The ZR 600's are a really nice sled. The ZR chasis handles great and the 600 engine has great power, though very thirsty and the older ones did well to see 80-90 miles to a tank of gas. It should easily take a MXZ 500. I would look for the newer ones 2001+ with APV's and the 02's had wider running boards, coupled suspension and sno-pro handle bars. 98 was the first year for them and the engine had its initial bugs.

sorry, I didnt see you ask what years were the best,,, I was going to try to give you an educated answer,,,,,as I recall, the owners manual states that this sled is not made for jumping, so I would say its not for you,,,, and if that zr600 isnt taking an mxz500, then the mxz500 is not stock,, was simply trying to help,

Terrible gas mileage. My buddy has a 2000 and my 800 drinks way less gas and at least half the oil that his does.

I have a 2002 ZR 600 EFI. I have not had many problems with the sled. It is alittle thirsty for fuel but I have trouble keeping my thumb out of the throttle. I good clutch kit can help you get alittle better mileage too.

I love my 99 ZR600 e.f.i.
It is a little fuel thirsty (90 - 95 miles per tank) the harder you ride it - the better the mileage. - gets the exact same mileage as my zl 800, but better than the zl 500
Great power (especially with a pipe and chip (the chip helped the mileage))
The 2001 and newer 600's have a little better mileage, but prom changes are not possible for aftermarket pipes - etc.
I put 2000 - 2500 miles a year on mine and will probably ride it another year or two.
As far as jumping, never had a problem with mine, but I would recomend rail supports just in case.
p.s. my buddies mxz600 cannot keep up with my little non-apv 600, a 500 shouldn't be a problem.

I have a 00ZR6EFI and I like it aswell as everyone else has said it like to drink. I can keep up with 02 xcsp600, 00mxz700 on radar runs. Another thing I can't keep the skies on the ground, I do have pipe, chip, clutch maybe thats why I don't know. Other than that shes a good sled. Where have you been shopping? good luck.
