i am wondering if antone has a 550 fan how do they work and how do they last

also i am a big guy 6'2 270lbs i want a sled that i am not cramped on

I would say go with the 600, just because it is liquid cooled and it has alot more power.Just my $0.02.

The 600 is a dynamite engine. I agree with the others and go for that. The REV chassis is unbeleivable and you will not regret buying a rev for one second.

I would try the 500 SS, it is a small block 600!

Yeah and the 500ss should be close to the price of the 550 fan.

list for the 500ss is 8799 cdn.
There are some 2004 around that you could do better on

guy your size might want to look for a liquid sled..you WILL have more fun. Bigger engine doesn't mean you have to drive faster...and the price diff will probably be negligible between a 550f and a 500ss

just got my snoweek with some tests including the 550 fan cooled rev and like past fan cooled skidoos they say the suspension is to soft. The motor is also down on power compared to Polaris and A Cat 550 fanners.

how does a 500ss compare to a 95 583 formula z
speed and power wise

BTANK

The 500ss motor has alittle more horsepower than the original Rotax motor. Im guessing around 3 to 5 more horsepower anybody correct if im wrong. Top end speed wise its prolly right around the same, ive heard of 583's gettin up in the 100's. Ive had mine up around 105. The big difference between the 2 is gettin there. The 500ss is alot faster on low end and mid range and pulls alot harder cause its much lighter and the clutch set up. the F-2000 deisign is alittle more aerodynamic but much heavier frame, One of my favorite chassis. Ive raced alot of 583 all in the S -2000 chassis design and its really not even a close race. But top end is pretty close.

if the 500ss top out at 105 than the formula z will have a little longer legs but wont have me o take off

Yes take off the 500ss is one of the hardest pullin sleds ive ridden with alot of throttle response. So really in wont be a close race between the 2. 2 of My friends have a 99 Formula Z 583 and a 98MxZ 583. And they eat snow all day. Its right even with my friends 99 670 dependin on the whole shot.
With mine ive hadnt had any problems so far with 1200 miles on it but others say there have been problems with the rings on the H.Os but nothin yet heard on a 500ss there a pretty solid running motor.
Workin on em is a pain in the ### compared to my dads 95 Mx he has all the room in the world, with the Revs u have to work on em from the side panels unless u attack it from the top then u have to remove some top molding, but still the top end part of the frame is always in the way, Other people out there might have a different and better way of doing it but it can be a pain ecspecially motor work.
Yeah RER is over my head to brother others will tell u more about that topic and ill listen as well.

Good luck
Blake

BTANK

Yes mine currently is insured as a 500 but ive heard some of the larger insurance companies know its a 600. I have a private insurance company in a building with a little hole in the wall and they didnt know.
