ok i got a garmin etrex venture GPS today and it seems complicated, what i want to know is this, how do i draw the map of the route i take, for example, if i go from my house on the sled, on the trails to another county for instance how do i get it to draw the map as i go? :huh:

I believe the Venture does not have a basemap...only shows points of interest.

It will show your track (bread crumb trail) on the screen as you move showing where you have been. See pages 39-40 of manual for setting up tracking options.

Like rws said it should say in your owners manual and you should sit down and read it, theres alot of info in them. Though there should be a setting under the main menu where you can turn the TRACKING on and off. That is what leaves a trail where you have been (bread crum).
