Hello Everyone,

I was curious about changing my helix, and wondering what it would do for me. I understand that getting a helix with more angle will open up the secondary clutch faster. Currently, I am using the stock helix with my machine (a 1997 Ski-Doo Mach 1, which has the TRA primary and secondary), and notice that I am getting a lot of slip in the secondary clutch (it's pretty hot after riding).

The stock helix is a 50-47, and I wonder which way I should go to try to minimize belt slip.

What sort of criteria should I use to select a different angle, or is there something else I should think about changing? I am also planning to gear down a tooth or two on the top sprocket over the summer.

I have been "collecting" a few different helixes off eBay to "play" around with, so far I have a HRP Black Ice 44 degree, Goodwin 50/44, and a Goodwin 54/48. Does anyone know what these helixes would do for me vs. the stock one???

What do you think??
