: Did U Get A Subscription With Your Trail Pass?
RacerX408 03-31-2004, 11:22 AM seems weird cuz everyone else i know that bought a trailpass got a bunch of free magazines. i didnt receive any this year, or last. :( my dad hasnt bought a trail pass for the past 3 years but still gets stuff in the mail with his name on it regarding trail info, updates, and whatever else there is. i dont get anything!! :cussing: what gives??
Same thing here, my 2 riding buddies and I bought passes at the same time, they get all the mags and I get :cussing: all....
catdoo 03-31-2004, 01:03 PM You can put me on that list too. I thought I was supposed to get a subscription to "Ontario Snowmobiler magazine" but I didn't get a single issue . :(
indyrxl 03-31-2004, 03:36 PM same here what gives.??????
revrnd 03-31-2004, 03:38 PM Did you sign the slip allowing the OFSC to use your personal info? Contact the club you bought the permit from and/or the OFSC office. I hear the same thing every year from a friend that buys a permit from the same central Ontario club each year.
I've never had a problem getting my mags & maps sent to me. I think some clubs are a bit shoddy in getting the req'd info to the OFSC office in a timely manner.
FishHog 03-31-2004, 04:29 PM I believe they use last years permit purchasers addresses.
I've moved a few times over the years, and they always seem to be sent to the address I had the year prior.
don't know if that explains you guys not getting yours, but thats what I have found.

They doo use last years purchase for the next year. Buy a permit this year and the mags start to come next year. You doo also have to make sure that you sign the slip allowing the OFSC to use your personal info. Doo it yourself rather than letting the place that you bought the permit from doo it. I had the same problem a few years ago and E-mailed the OFSC and they helped me out.

Well another good topic for me to enlighten you on .
The magazine subscriptions are sent out to people who bough trail passes the year before . So if you are a first time buyer this year you will get a magazine next fall... BUT only if you properly completed the OFSC portion when you purchased your permit. Did you check the required box , date it and sign it ? Without this being done it is against the rules for us ( permit co-ordinators) to enter your name as accepting the OFSC benefits, it's really got to do with the privacy of information act. Again thanks to Bill 101 for more bull :cussing: and paper work.
As for the information on the permit it's self , many of you people spell very poorly or write illegibly . Many permits I enter every year are just a crap shoot as to what the information really is ......point to note ! ....print neatly and give your full mailing address not your lot and concession.
The information on the permits is what is used for the magazine subscription , so there is no shoddy work on timing as they are all required to be sent in by certain dates.
That being said it is a Club volunteer in most cases that enters all that information on the OFSC program .....and I might add it takes many, many hours to do 600 permits. No one is perfect as I know I make a few mistakes every year .
As for what happens at the OFSC and Ontario Snowmobiler when they are creating mailing lists ...I have no idea what goes on there .
Now if you should have got a magazine this past season and didn't and know you completed all the required information . Then contact your vendor Club and ask them to check and update your info to make sure it is correct . ( I would do it for all of you but only the vendor Club has access to your records) . If all else fails you could contact the OFSC office and one of the nice ladies there would be glad to help you out.
I hope this helps
RacerX408 04-01-2004, 01:11 PM i filled out everything that was on the form to receive my pass. i write very neat to make sure stuff like this does not happen. also, i purchased a trail pass last year and did so in the exact same manner. so your theory about buying one the previous year and receiving the magazines, maps, etc. still doesn't fit. it's not a huge deal cuz the magazine is half advertising and just goes in the fire place after i look at it. one other thing, like i posted before, my dad hasnt purchased a trail pass for 3 years but he still gets the paper worked mailed to him. not sure how that works....
PETE/NY 04-01-2004, 05:00 PM I have been getting all the issues of Ontario Snowmobiler Magazine for as many years as I have been getting my permit.Only once did I have to call the club to ask what had happened and was told for some reason being from the US it would be a wek or so longer, but I have gotten all of them and try to save them as theres some pretty good info in them on different trails and the map atlas is pretty decent also.I carry that with me on trips just in case but its not as precise as a local trail map but would work in an emergency.
paul yarek 04-01-2004, 07:13 PM for those that do not get their magazines next season when all the others are contact the OFSC head office in barrie. tell those ladies your problem and they will make fantastic look second rate. that's what i did a couple years back and they faxed me a disclaimer to sign and fax back so the OFSC office can share your information with the magazine people.

Well that answers my question then. I was not sure if they sent the mags to us in the states.
