Does making certain mods to a trail sled qualify it as a mountain sled?

Such as adding bigger read idle wheels, removing the two outside rear idlers, changing the clutch to higher elavations count?

I consider my sled a mountain sled now, it is an indy 650, stock they are trail sleds. I got a mountain tunnel on it and long track with 2" paddles, and clutching and a few other mods. I would post pics but I dont have a scanner or a digital camera though.

I converted my 2000 doo Formula Z 700 to a mountain sled. It has a Expert X 136 set back 4" to accomidate a 144 X 2. The engine has RKT heads with domes for 8500 ft and above, Cudney pistons, Holtzman ATAAC, DYNO Port pipe (Ceramic coated stock shown in pics).

I did purchase a boss seat that is not pictured. I have to install it when I get my sled out of storage.

I am also contemplating buying a Hyper Lite Roller Secondary!!

fx700, my buddy has the same sled except with the 600 motor. Its more of trial sled and not a mountian sled but he has over 18000 kms on it. very nice sled to ride.

I already ordered one from Chris, I'm on a waiting list. I was trying to decide between the Hyper lite or the Team secondary. When I was at Haydays i spoke with both parties and decided to go with the Hyper lite. That is one nice looking secondary.

My main reason for choosing the hyper lite was the weight, shifting, running temp, and the cost of buying other springs. I'll have ot take some new pics with the big wheel kit and boss seat installed.

The flame big wheel kit I installed is also from PEM (Chris).

1998 summit x 670, pipes, porting, headwork, clutching, a few light-weight parts, extrovert drivers, geared it down a bit, put a 144" Camoplast with 2" lugs, works great in the mountains.

I guess I qualify then. No mountains here, but we get plenty of boondocking snow. :hallo1:

I started with a ZL600 and added mountain cat skis, 2" handlebar riser, 136x2" camo track, and custom tunnel extension.

Nice sled FZ I always wondered what it looked like w/ out all the snow cover. I would like to do the same to my '00 MXZ 700. Either 136 or 144" I need to boondock and stay trail friendly (ie: New York). Some elevation, but nothing "Rocky" like. Right now all I have DPM, 1.25" track and a love for powder........its a start.

Well, I just got back from the Snowy Range on Monday, and must say I love the changes I made to my sled. I took my 99 ZR 600 efi, put a 144" x 2" track on it, put a pair of SLP no slip 8 tooth drive sprockets on, a home made tunnel extension, and a SnoStuff can, and weighted the clutch for the mountains.

I couldn't keep up with my buddies F7 in a drag race, but could climb whatever I wanted to, and could keep up with the Summit 600 H.O. on the trail and mountain.

Would like to put on a handlebar riser, and a spare gas can, and I will be tickled.

[attachmentid=28617][attachmentid=28616]this is a picture of my 2002 custom 700 rmk. i painted the hood a limited edition orange from ford that they used on there mustang in 04. i put a very hard to find yellow belly pan on it from the switchbacks from 2004..if u wonder why it was so hard to get was because polaris got into a lawsuit with skidoo over that model of sled because they broke a copyright law with skidoo on the % of yellow that can be allowed on a sled. the belly pan was discontinued and very few were kept around. i then put a flame big wheel kit on and added a flame windshield that blended with the colors of the sled and went good with the flame wheels. i added a boss seat also...the yellow one that is on there was a borrower because the one i wanted wasnt in yet...looks just like the yellow one thats on it but the yellow is orange. i added a slp exhaust kit to it and left the engine stock after that..hard to sell a sled that the engine has been messed with the fear of problems and constant tweaking. this sled is now for sale if anyone is interested. i purchased a 06 1000tr summit this last march.

Check out some of these REVs. We have completed 16 of these machines for the 06-07 season as of last week. All are custom tunnels with drop and roll chaincase some have M-10 suspensions, most use the skidoo track but there is lots of room for a 2.5 camoplast. Most were 800s, there were six 900s and one 1200. Im planning to get my hands on a 1200 for my XRS. going with the 2.3 151"skidoo track. Im going to do the tunnel and rolled case but leaving stock rear skid. Titanium springs for rear, a fox airshock and chromoly suspension from Racers Edge. More pics avalible upon request. Let me know what you think ~lance

AHHHH man that red rev is awsome , love the white console . Think I have his little brother .
Wish I could have a looong track sled like that , but here in MI it would be way overkill.
