Almost done rebuilding the 97 Panther 550 2-up. I need to get the proper decals for the right side of the hood. Anybody got them? PM or e-mail me if you want to sell!

Puree-

Thanks. After getting a $4200 (USD) repair estimate, I decided it was time to learn how to do it myself. Attached is a picture of it. I had to strip it, find someone to straighten the right frame rail, another guy to rebuild the hood, and just basically tried to use common sense after that. I've got less than $700 into the repair, though this was the 1st year the sled has seen snow since 2000, it ran fine, line up was dead on and it performed fine.

Here's another-just after spring cleaning and moving the fleet ot the storage garage. We had to do one mod-the hinges were sheared off under the hood, we ended up building metal hinges and bolting through the hood. Doesn't look fantastic, but gets the job done.

Looks like you did a real nice job fixing it up spikegary. We had a 97 Pantera 580 for a couple weeks once, it was the same color as your panther, really nice. I doubt there are to many people with spare decals, I got my decals for the same price as Browns but at my dealer without having to pay for shipping  .

Thanks. I was hoping to find them on the cheap, but will likely go to the dealer on it. I need to strip off some of the residue from the old decal. Any suggestions on what to use for that?

All I used was some WD-40, theres probably stuff that works better but I already had a can of WD-40 in the garage. It takes a fair amount of it but after a little work the residue will come off.

man,,,, wish I would have know that before I stripped all of mine off,,,,, they say that goo gone works well at pulling the adhesive off the sled, but I didnt have any when I did mine so I used mineral spirits and a lot (I do mean a lot) of elbow grease,,,, man, wd40 and I would have been able to use my arm 2 days sooner!!!

I've got some WD at the house. I tried some 'decal' remover stuff from Auto Zone on my son's bike-removing the old pin stripes. It was useless-I used a hair dryer and CAREFULLY scraped with a blade.
