Here is an overview of the Vintage Classes and rules for the summer grass drags at all COSDRA events this summer in Ontario, Michigan and New York.
Right now the plan is to start with 4 classes based on CC criteria and then migrate to ET if the classes get too lopsided with ringers. Here are the classes that are being set up.
Vintage "A"
Single cylinder any size, fan cooled only. No F/A or liquid
Vintage "B"
0 - 340CC Fan and F/A only - any number of cylinders
Vintage "C"
341 - 440CC Fan and F/A and 0 - 340 Liquid - any cylinders
Vintage "D"
Open - any CC or cooling
Hopefully this will be a good start, get people out and then massage it from there. I am also putting some basic rules together as well.
CC Class rules:
Fan cooled and Free Air would run together in their CC class.
Liquid cooled would run in the next CC class up with FC and FA sleds.
Open class is any CC, any cooling.
Single cylinder class is fan cooled only to promote small and family type sleds to compete.
Some basic safety rules:
Working tether switch
Working brakes
Belt guard
Hood secured down
Full mud flap
Full face helmet
Long sleeves and pants
Leather boots over ankles recommended
Tek vest or chest protector recommended
Some basic tech rules:
Engine and chassis must be 1980 or older but does not have to be original configuration.
No fuel injection, nitrous or turbos
Any "Gasoline" fuel can be used
No alcohol or nitro blends
No welded skis
Must have steel ski runners - no plastic or ski skins
Must have seat
Frame must be sound and will be up to the discretion of Tech to determine - error will be on the side of caution
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to e-mail myself or Kris Bedard.
