: Do Ya Wanna?
LadyK 05-19-2004, 11:20 PM :D Hey all I am thinking of having a golf tournament for SW peeps and friends in September. All those of you interested please let me know. Price will be depend on how many we have and if you guys want dinner as well. You could have prime rib.The price should be unbeatable as the tourney will be at my work. I myself dont golf but I will be driving the "refreshment" buggy in the day for you peeps. There is also a hotel there if those that travel want to stay. The golf course is located up near Algonquin Park near the south gateway. The price for rooms will be a deal as well. There is an 18 hole golf course and the resort is on Elephant Lake. There is a dining room and a pub as well on the premises. If you have any questions you could post them here or PM me. Let me know if you guys want to doo this and some dates. September is a good time as the bugs will be almost non-existent. I need to get an idea of what you guys want and how many for a price.
ZR Rider 05-20-2004, 08:48 AM Sounds like a great idea Kim... work may slow down by then!! LOL Been going crazy since winter!
spikegary 05-20-2004, 10:27 AM I might be able to throw some people together-forgive my ignorance, but whereabouts is the course? Not that familiar with Ont.
Thanx.
p.s. I saw you slipped that Doo thing in there......
LadyK 05-21-2004, 08:23 AM Spikegary I always slip the doo thing in. Good for you for being so observant :p :D It is up near Algonquin Park
spikegary 05-21-2004, 01:39 PM Kim,
I wasn't able to open that file. What type of program is it?
Thanks,
SpikeGary
LadyK 05-21-2004, 05:29 PM Streets and Trips. Lets see if this works.
Spaceman 05-22-2004, 08:06 AM That didn't work for me either try this (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&countryid=250&addtohistory=&searchtab=address&searchtype=address&address=&city=Algonquin+Park+&state=on&zipcode=&search=++Search++)

Admire your hard work and dedication to this site. Hate golf, nothing personal to all the Tiger wanna-bees, but a Sept getaway has tweaked our interest. The wife usually deserves it by then, and I'm a push-over for prime rib. Keep us informed.
LadyK 05-23-2004, 12:53 PM Cory , I thank you for your kind remarks. My dedication to this site and for snowmobiling is one of selfishness. I love to ride and meet new friends who share this same passion. It is easy to dedicate to that which you love most. :D
I hate golf as well :p There are a few killer muskie lakes right there as well if fishing is your fancy. The owner of the resort has decided to stay open for the winter this year for the snowmobilers :D He had a new outdoor wood burning furnace installed so the hydro bill wont scare the life out of the old man. :D
Kris thanx for posting the map.
skidoo175 05-23-2004, 01:05 PM I never could understand this darn game. Don't get me wrong, but I do enjoy it I just can't figure some things out. You pay a fairly good chunk of $$$$$ to play 18 holes. Now, you go out and try to hit a ball as few as possible times to get it in a hole at the end of the fairway on the green in the lowest number of strokes you can. The way I see it, I am going to play the whole course, side to side, in every creek, trap, etc. just to get my moneys worth. I might as well play the whole course and not just the shortest and fewest strokes to the pin.
You know what they say about the game of golf.
It spoils a good walk!!! w00t
Oh, yeah, I will have to check my schedule and see if I can make it!!
kennypope 05-24-2004, 08:57 AM I guess I'm one of the few sled heads that loves golf......I would love to hit the links with some of the sw people. Just a matter of what weekend in Sept, as I will have all my holiday's used up during the summer shut down were I work. So it would have to be on a weekend that I'm off.
MikeD 05-26-2004, 10:26 AM Sounds good Kim ...... I'm in and probably Mrs. D as well. Might I suggest a scramble or "best ball" format to keep playing time to a reasonable level and to encourage the less frequent golfers to participate?

I'm with you there Ken! Love the sport now, hated it before I tried it, seem like a waste of time. But would rather golf then baseball. Not play baseball as much and golfing with work and suppliers is great fun!
I have been playing for about 10 years now, not the best but I like it!
Hey Kim, can I bring my father-in-laws golf cart?? lol... just tweaked it this past weekend!! :D Promise not to spin on take off!! lol :sly:
sawman 05-26-2004, 06:06 PM May want to bring the wheelers great country for that also.
permafrost 05-26-2004, 10:52 PM Good thinking Frank 4 wheelers and dirt bikes are more than welcome/ There are lots of trails around for them. Get this they were grooming the ATV trails the other day. They are baby bum smooth as of today.

:D :D :D Seeing as I dont know the first thing about golf and I have no idea what you are talking about I nominate you Mike to figure the golfing part out. I have the location, you have to do the golf part :D :D :D :D You guys can play either 9 or 18 holes. FYI there is prime rib at the resort every Saturday night.
4 wheelers and dirt bikes are a common sight around the resort as well. Last year I had a group come and stay who were travelling around by 4 wheeler and dirt bike. :D
fridgee800mxz 05-27-2004, 02:30 AM I might just be interested in a get away by then, not much of a golfer but i missed the SW ride so it would be nice to meet some more people off this great site alot of us call our second home. SWRules Kim send me some info when you have it or i will try to keep up with the posts on here-Jay

No problem Kim, I'd be happy to help. Best ball / scramble is where the best shot of the foursome is used. The other 3 players pick up thier golf balls and advance them to the chosen shot location. They all shoot again and the process is repeated. Players can't just ride the shoulders of the best team member, they must contribute a certain # of shots or drives. (that can be determined closer to the date) The games generally go a little faster and it's a lot more fun for the less experienced. It's not unusual for a foursome to bring in an under par card. We'd want 18 holes for sure. 9 just isn't a game, that's practice!!
revrnd 05-29-2004, 09:39 AM If the non-golfers are interesting in some ATV riding, I'd think of going up there w/ the X. We could hit the forest sccess roads north of the resort. The trails to the west are closed as they are on private property.
LadyK 05-29-2004, 01:59 PM South of the resort they have been grooming the trail that runs alongside the road. I see OFSC signs there but I also see EVERYONE ride their ATV's & dirtbikes there. I will snap a pic of it on my way to work today. We had fellas last year ride from quite a ways on ATV & dirtbikes right to the resort. We could make it golf, ATV, dirtbike, fishing weekend LOL.
sawman 05-29-2004, 06:23 PM Well lets get a date! I am going to have to make two trips to get the boat and the 4x4s there. I don't golf but it would be worth taking it up to watch Andy in action :p
LadyK 06-01-2004, 07:49 PM Here is the pics I promised all of you of the trail. I asked around at work and I am told it was done for fire reasons. They just had a forest fire up there and had to call in the Bombi water scooper planes to put it out. Either way it makes the trail nice for us in the winter and nice for the ATV'ers
LadyK 06-01-2004, 07:53 PM Another pic
LadyK 06-01-2004, 07:57 PM This is right down the road from my work.
LadyK 06-01-2004, 07:59 PM It is also a sled trail :D

LadyK 06-08-2004, 11:18 AM OK the date I am looking at is the weekend of August 6, 7 , 8. The resort is full all of September and half of October. Please let me know if you would like to attend so I can book it. The resort only has 18 rooms so if another group is booked at the same time we might not have enough rooms.
revrnd 06-09-2004, 04:52 PM Kim, so far that weekend is open for me. I'll just head up Saturday to go ATVing and the dinner. A ride up to Lake St. Peter or Whitney would probably fill in the day and pretty easy going for a large group. Not a lot of obstacles.
sawman 06-11-2004, 01:57 PM I am scheduled to work that weekend but will try to get Sat. off to go for the fourwheeler ride.
LadyK 06-15-2004, 08:13 AM Some bad news my friends, I have given my notice at Martinwood so I will no longer be working there. If anyone is in need of a good chef let me know LOL.
