Probably a question posted before. But is the Tragically Hip really as popular as I hear they are in Canada? Cause few know about them here in the states. Believe it or not I have been a huge fan of them since Fully Completely. Seen them at least a dozen times throughout the midwest since about '96. I usually see them at least twice in Chicago every other summer along with a trip to Pine Knob near Detroit and two years ago went to Minneapolis also. New album on the way soon. They are almost unheard of here in the states although the shows seem to always be packed. I even got a Hip hockey jersey with #2 and the name "Grace" stitched across the back. My buddy has one with #50 and Mission Cap on it. Hip fans will know the meaning of those. So yes you can see we are full blown Hip dorks lol.
So just curious, they really that popular in Canada?

I hear you. Nickelback is much better. I can't stand the hip! :cussing: Any band that writes songs about a town (Bobcaygeon) or vacination scars is totally bereft of any ideas. They could record 4 & a half minutes of tape hiss & it would get airplay. :whatever:

One of the nice things I enjoy while travelling in the US is that there are some rock stations that play some good ole' headbanging :cussing: :D  & no hip.

They are the type of band you'd like to buy for what they're worth, and sell them for what they think they're worth. Highly over-rated.

I'm a 70's and 80's classic rock fan, but I do like Nickelback as well.

Every band has good songs, and some bad. I think the Hip have some decent tunes, especially in their older albums. They do have a huge following here in Canada, same as Our Lady Peace.

The Hip helped put Canada on the music map in the 90's!

The hip has a varitey of song styles, whereas Nickelback has the same sound everytime.

TRIUMPH, was my favourite band, met them all, was at there recording studio, Metalworks, got all there autographs, etc. Since Rik Emmet left, they haven't done ANYTHING.

As for the HIP, I love them, I actually won the grand prize on Q107 many years ago for the HIP shows at Copps and the Gardens. Got a full CD catalogue, tickets to both shows with limo, and a huge 5'x3' wood embossed picture of Trouble at the Henhouse.

Only band that I really don't like much is the Beatles, oh ya and ABBA......

Well said. Cant stand the nicklecrap. As for the HIP. I enjoyed them a long time ago. There last few albums imo strayed to far from the original music. It doesn't matter much since the only thing you'll find in my CD player is AC/DC, Metallica, maybe some Skynrd and some Thorogood.
