Cant tell you pros / cons about the sled because I'm pretty new to this. However, I picked one up last spring and only rode it a few times this past winter. I can say mine has been worth every penny I paid for it. It's fast, handles great, and gets good mileage. The first trip out I beat it pretty hard to see what would happen or if it would leave me stranded (I had friends to help if I needed them) and It took everything with no problems. I would recommend using Amsoil synthetic oil in yours if you get it. I put it in mine and within 1 hour all the smoking stopped. When you first start it cold you get a little smoke for about 2 minutes and thats it for the rest of the day you won't see anymore smoke or smell. I've heard a lot of people complaining about that and with this oil I don't see or smell what they are complaining about.

Overall I have to say Great sled, very trustworthy, and I'm hooked. :D

:( CONS
THe 97 yamaha v max is not the best of trail sleds due to its gas guzzling capabilities. Even though it is a triple 700, it can't top out that fast..maybe 107mph. It has virtually no suspension which suks on rough mogul days and acceleration suks due to its small profile track and it's weight. It has steel skis which weight it down even more. You can't go in any type of powder because it doesn't go well and it has poor handling...

pro's: dont consume that much oil....

a real good buddy of mine up in Marquette still rides his 97 700,,,, he does a lot of trail riding, and loves it to death,,,, as for top speed, 107 is fine, specially on the trails,,, you can buy a set of pipes for it to open it up quiet a bit also,,, 1900 doesnt sound bad, but what are the miles,,, was it taken care of?? ask the previous owner to show you where to grease it,,, if he can show you every one, he probably greased it like it should be,,,, also keep in mind that it is not a sellers market right now,,, so if you feel 1500 would be a better offer, make that offer,,, with the prices of sleds what they are right now, if he really wants to sell it, he will come down,,,

So...RotaxMan02...your saying you don't like it?...lol... :D ...I don't know about gas guzzling...mine was great on gas...good tune-up goes along way...and mine handled great...although i did have plastic skis on....loved mine!...in fact it was known to give my brother in laws' rev alot of trouble on the trails...just my 2 cents
