i was draining my bowls in my carbs and fixing my electric starter the other day and i was thinkin about doing some more mods to my sled. i want to get some v force reeds but they are so exspensive i was looking trough royal catalog and they ae like 400 bucks when the boyesen are like 100 bucks is there much difference in the 2? i just want some more throttle response for hittin jumps and stuff.

your comparing apples and oranges.the 400 for the v-force includes new reed cages with them the price you gave for the boysen are just the petals.the boysen reeds with new reed cages are actually more than the v-force, about 440 for my sled.imo i think the v-force react a little quicker because there are more petals per reed.these things do make a nice mod as far as throttle response but dont expect alot of "feelable" horsepower.also i do think the cages are worth the extra money because your stock cages are a little restrictive but the new sleds are gettin better.

I've tried both. Performance wise, the V-Force are slightly better. I've also found that the V-Force reeds last much longer. The Boyesens seem to chip and fray more quickly. I've gone through five sets of Boyesens @ $100 a set. One set of V-Force at $400. Pay me now or pay me later, I guess...

IMHO, the best mod you can do is a clutch kit. Dynamo Joe, Bill Cudney and Goodwin all make a good product.

i have also heard that the vforce are better as far as performance issues are concerned. But i do have friend that basically just rides trials and put on a set of boyesens this year and was satisfied with them. i do have some friends that run vforce and they claim better gas mileage but they are unsure wether it helped them performance wise except for better throttle respnse. good luck.

I installed the V-Force 3's last season and I was pretty impressed. Throttle response was great and my mileage did seem to be better. I think my money was well spent on these.

i was just thinkin id pick up a pair to get some better performance out of the mxz 7 im very satisfied with it id just like some extras do give me some better riding. i ride trails but i also love to hit jumps and drifts all the time and id like to have some more response when doing so. and my sled is ok on gas but id like it better...
could i install just the reeds on my stock cages??

yes you can just call them and tell them you want petals for your make and model

Agreed, I've had nothing but good luck with them as well.

should i go for the whole cage or wil just installing the reeds give me the same outcome?

it depends on the yr,make and model of your sled but generally the cages do add a little more hp.

they say you notice the difference more with bigger sleds,,, I put vforce 2's on my vmax and could feel the throttle response difference,,, I am looking at putting them on my firecat right now,,,,

Anybody ever try the Top Fuel reeds from Wolfpack performance ? I remember reading an article about them in Snowtech and did hear after that they were not living up to the hype but then again I don't think that person actually used them and was just stating what he was told. Anyone here actually try them ?

You might consider CarbonTech reeds also available through Royal Distributing.
They're about 50% more $ than the Boyesen replacements but still considerably less $ than V-Force or the Boyesen Rad-Valves and are proven to improve HP and throttle response when installed on your stock cages. Fett Bros. dyno'ed them in a ZR800 and found +3 hp midrange and +4 hp top end. I'll be slapping a set into my ZR8 this fall.
As mentioned above. Reed upgrades seem to have much greater positive effect on big block sleds. Even moreso when heavily modified.
