I have a 1997 mach 1 and my buddy has a 98 mach 1 his use to steer fine and all the sudden it started getting stiffer to turn and i just bought mine with only 400 miles on it and it is stiff to turn also. is this a common problem we looked at both of them and nothing seems to be bent or anything just hard to turn any input is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Try letting out the limiter straps.

Have you been lubing up the steering components regularly?

lift the front end of the sled and take apart teh skilegs and bushings and grease everything, there should be some grease nipples arround there somewhere but its better to take it apart to get all teh water and condensation out.

Check your steering shaft bushings.

Yep, grease, oil & penatrant.

Hummm, I see you have a 97 Mach1 with 400 miles. Very fast sled, should beat the 98 by 4 sleds providing you both weigh the same.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but if your 97 has not had the oil hole update done so the PTO bearing can live you "WILL" burndown!
Is only 400 miles due to the rebuild already being done or is this original?
Make sure you contact the previous owner and find out and get proof...........

Was this the crankshaft recall you are referring too? Frm what I undersatnd the sled TCAT96 has had the recall work done after the crank blew up.
