Generally you have to remove the rear skid frame and sometimes a few idlers to access the bolts.

that pretty much covers it,,,, it really isnt a big job,,, hardest thing is getting the skid frame out and putting it back in,,,,

Would it be easier to change the jackshaft and driveshaft bearings with the skid frame out, or is this irrelavent?

I would say it is nearly impossible to change them with it in,,,, maybe possible, but that would be some very very sore hands and knuckles,,,,

Yeah you have to pull the skid to get the shocks out and you also have to have the skid out to replace the bearings. I think I'll be doing the same this summer, when I get my shocks rebuilt and the skid is out might as well replace the driveshaft and jackshaft bearings.

while you have the skid out, it would be a good idea to eather change or at least check all the bearings to make sure they are still good. its really not a big deal to losten the track and pull the skid out. easier with 2 guys than just one. so get someone to give you a hand. good luck.

It is possible to swap rear shocks without removing the skid. The front (rear) shock is fairly easy, the rear (rear) is more difficult as the lower mounting bolt requires the removal of two idlers wheels.

no arguements there, but he asked if he had to remove it to replace the driveshaft bearings,,,, thats why I said he would,,, the shocks can be done on the sled, but I myself would pull the skid frame,,, much easier when its on a workbench,,, also give you a chance to check every bolt to make sure they are tight, check your idlers, check your bearings, check you hyfaz, and make sure its greased up really good,,,,

No you don't have to drop the rear skid to change the bearings. I've done a bunch them w/ the skid still in. Is it easier w/ the skid out? Ya, but you don't have to pull it.
