Last year I put twin pipes on my Prox2 800 along with gutting the airbox, gearing down a little and experimenting with many clutch setups. The sled pulled pretty good. This summer I have sent the cases, cylinders and exhaust valves away for trail porting. I have read many recommendations on these sites that boring my carbs would compliment the changes I have made.
Exactly what on the carb is bored out? To what dimensions would I enlarge the carbs on my 04 Prox2 800 to? What equipment is required to perform this mod? Should the boots be bored out somewhat as well?
Thanks for any info you may wish to enlighten me with.

hi,
the throat on the carb that leads into the cyl is bored.alot depends on what type you have and how big they already are, usually the limit for boring is around 2mm larger, anymore than that and air escapes around the slides and causes problems.the tools required usually involve setting them up in a metal lathe and turning them that way,ive know people that have also done it with a line boring machine, none of this is begginers stuff.get a reputable shop to do it and enjoy the extra power.(on an 800 probably around 6-8hp)costs around $50us per carb.no the boots dont need to be bored, this also requires totally differant jetting and i mean everything, needles, needle jets, main jets, pilots, etc. SWRules

42.5mm is max. mine work great. stock needles. you have to dremel out the boots to match the carbs. the lathe thing is not bad. you do have to hang a cutter out a bit. mike
