: When Do You Start Getting The Itch?
mtrsprt 06-22-2004, 04:02 PM By the middle of August, I get exicited about the season starting in a few months.!!!!
In September, I am starting it up, and checking it over really good. :)
DanB 360 06-22-2004, 04:04 PM I'm getting ready to buy soon so i'm itching all over lol.
paul yarek 06-22-2004, 04:16 PM i never go a day without thinking about sledding. i was in Las Vegas before the Haliburton/Pinestone trip and couldn't wait to get back home in case it snowed.
The Hossman 06-22-2004, 04:34 PM I voted for September, but really the 'itch' is there all year long. It just gets a lot worse come fall.... That is the itch you're asking about right?? Because if it's something else, I'd consult a doctor. :D
NHIcegator 06-22-2004, 04:48 PM Always, every dang day i think about riding.
I just finished re-building my trailer and now I'm gonna start doing some minor repairs on the sleds.
I really want to upgrade this year but we'll have to see how finances and the war department feel about that.
A nice o1' or 02' XC600 would be a nice early christmas gift :D
charlo 06-22-2004, 05:08 PM Always! The itch just gets real bad as we get closer to winter. :(
1999zr600efi 06-22-2004, 05:23 PM never had the itch so bad in my life as i do right now because of the new sled i got sitting in my garage
SDRENE800RER 06-22-2004, 05:28 PM I had my 800 running Sunday.......mmmmMMMMmmmm premix fumes :p
I think that the idea pops into my head everyday. The need for a good ride is even stronger, seeing that I only got in a 15 mile shake down ride this past season due to lack of snow.
winnipegsledhead 06-22-2004, 06:59 PM I'm thinking about sledding 365 days 24/7. It's all I talk about all summer and my non sled friends think I'm insane :D
anteater 06-22-2004, 07:27 PM I also think about sledding all year round but I start getting really excited come september.I am going to try to sell my 00 xc 700 sp and hopefully find a new 04 pro-x 700 .My current 03 pro-x now has around 4600 miles and since they don't make em any more I need to find one
zrt improved 06-22-2004, 07:49 PM thats why i grass drag, couldn't stand waiting all summer and fall! :D SWRules
phat_cat800 06-22-2004, 08:14 PM I get the itch everytime I go out to the garage and see the sled just sitting there all covered up :( . That is about everyday.
puree 06-22-2004, 08:23 PM I never lost the itch!!!
Mikadoo 06-22-2004, 08:40 PM My itch started 31 years ago and never went away.
I think my sled gets more little scratches from pulling the cover off everyother day than actually riding it.
Been thinking of getting it out for the water crossing party at my buddys the 4th but cant get over the thought of the hassels involved in getting everything back in shape if ever w00t
xcbullet 06-22-2004, 08:46 PM voted oct ,thats when I really start going bonkers for snow.I wish it was here already& I think thats when the New lothrop snow show is does anybody know for shur?
jtkennedy9 06-22-2004, 11:40 PM As my wife and friends will tell you, constantly. Going to the lake on 4th of July and I'm worried I'll forget to take a sled mag.
Sneaky Pete 06-23-2004, 06:23 AM I think about sleds every day. I really start getting the Itch around August though.
i guess i am like most. I always have the itch. as soon as i take my last pring ride, the next day i wake up wishing i could go riding. I think its getting worse each year, it used to be that by april i was ready to take a break, but anymore. lets have winter all year long and it will be heaven on earth. :D
LadyK 06-23-2004, 07:40 AM The itch never leaves it always there. It was the summer solstice yesterday so its all downhill from there :D

I hear ya, ...me too!
This is the worst year ever. Why? It's because I bought a new REV in late March and have not been able to ride it!
As soon as I can see grass in front of my home....and it stops when I cannot see the grass no more...
spikegary 06-23-2004, 11:39 AM From whenever I get off the sled to the time I get back on it.
DanB 360 06-23-2004, 11:48 AM How soon do you guys start getting rideable snow in your areas?
Around thanksgiving is when it's a sure bet there is enough good snow here.
spikegary 06-23-2004, 11:49 AM Generally December in Western, New York. Sometimes in November, but we're not supposed to ride until deer season closes out.
01MachZ 06-23-2004, 12:04 PM I always have that itch.......glad we don't need a cream for this one!

I know the New Lothrop show is after Hastings which I think is the first weekend in Oct. Do you go to Hastings? If not it puts New Lothrop to shame unless your into the vintage stuff then New Lothrop is the place to go. I go to both just for the excitement.
anteater 06-23-2004, 08:17 PM It's good to know I'm not the only one that thinks sleds 365 !my wife thinks i'm nuts!she says I'm the only person she know that looks at sled mags and brochures in the middle of the summer.Personally I think I'm perfectly normal!
SHAMARKEN 06-23-2004, 09:43 PM :D everytime I go in my shop I see my sled get my mind going & wishing that summer would end.....my wife says I'm nuts but who cares in a few months I'll be riding again.lol

That's an interesting way to look at it! We've past the mid-point, the daylight hours are getting shorter and shorter with each passing day. Next thing you know, the ground will be covered in God's most wonderful form of precipitation - the solid type - and all will be well in the world again.
Sneaky Pete 06-24-2004, 10:18 AM Disregarding my last post, I started the fever last night. My dad stopped by to see
my girls, and started talking about a trip we took 6 years ago. I started getting all
geeked up. Then my buddy I have been riding with since we both wore short pants, stopped by to shoot the breeze. I think Im going to have to pull some hole shots in the grass today. :D
polarisxc600 06-24-2004, 12:07 PM I voted oct but i think about sledding all the time and cant wait till winter. Its good to know that we are already on the down side of summer. Was talking with a friend from work about our trips and people around us couldnt believe we were talking sledding in june :D
Buddy of Jawz 06-24-2004, 12:21 PM JAWZ always has the itch, but it's not for sleddin, and he does need the cream.
My wife thinks I'm nuts when in the middle of summer I'll say " I wish it was snowing" SWRules
puree 06-24-2004, 01:56 PM the itch bugged me a little too much yesterday,,, it was my bday so I gave myself a bday gift, and fired up the firecat and drove it around the back yard!!!!! Man does the itch feel much better (for a couple days at least!!!)
RacerX408 06-24-2004, 06:57 PM ummm, no one ever told me that my sled was supposed to be put away for storage during the off season. :D i dont have an itch cuz if i do, then i go riding. whether it's january or july. :hallo1:
Russ Wheeler 06-24-2004, 07:12 PM How is the sled running RacerX408? Get er dried all the way out yet...
See this is the reason why I fog my machine out, cover it up, and bury it in the garage...forget about it, so I don't think about it...I need the summer to afford the winter if you know what I mean.... But once I see that first snow flake, it's all over, sled is out, weather is checked 5+ times a day, and people start calling me crazy because I'm actually wishing for colder and more messy weather... :christmas:
ZRT600R 06-25-2004, 04:04 PM :undercover: I never lose the itch
kennypope 06-25-2004, 05:17 PM I put it out of my mind once the snow is gone. I store my sled at my dealers so I don't even see it all summer. Enjoy the summer months playing golf and mountain biking......getting in shape for winter! But once the fall comes and the leaves are turning then the ich comes back big time.
willy291 06-25-2004, 06:48 PM i think about sledding everyday, and i know it's annoying the people i work with but who cares? i will turn off my slednecks dvd's about halloween, i make them watch them at work on the computer, so if i wind up missing tell the cops to investigate my co workers :p
willy291 06-25-2004, 06:50 PM maybe we should start watching crust demons instead?

I know exactly how you feel :p :D
fridgee800mxz 06-25-2004, 08:04 PM The itch never goes away, it's like a curse all i think is winter.....i hate summer. Might pull the beast out soon to skip some water just to ease the itch. w00t
Buddy of Jawz 06-26-2004, 04:00 PM 01machz that is one nice lookin sled.
I make a point of driving by any dealer just to see if they are moving the sleds around.
01MachZ 06-26-2004, 07:27 PM Thanks buddy of jaws. Do you ever get up around collingwood, meaford, owen sound on the sled. More than glad to meet up and ride ............. Hmmmm......makes me think I should tear the $h!t outta my lawn tonight. I can almost streach her on 3 acers of grass.
paul yarek 06-27-2004, 05:34 PM looks like everyone here has the itch year around. it is only the sled that gives me the itch nothing else.
polcat715 06-28-2004, 02:58 AM I always have the itch but it gets worse with the official start to winter!!!!! HAYDAYS that is

I'll be in Owen Sound in about 4 wks for a Lacrosse Tournament. I think I could work out a trip this winter, I'll keep in touch.
Couple years ago Jawz decided to rip around my yard. :cussing: Didn't even get me any seed.
Bauer 06-28-2004, 11:56 PM I have the itch all year long. Sledding is my way to get away when stuff goes wacky. No snow, no sledding.
Bauer
Steven Hohman 06-29-2004, 12:07 AM My Jet-Ski is my anti-itch............nothing like going 65 on the water on those 90 degree days......well except putting on some prime miles........anyways it's great itch relief to open up a jet ski and just let'er rip around the lake.
