I've been reading alot about this Rx1 and was and still am considering buying one next winter. The only thing Im worried is being smoked by my friends who have the Rev 800s. The take off like rockets and I read that the RX1 is a little slow starter. Did anyone test a new 2005 RX1 and is this machine capable of a fast start without having to mod the sh*t out of it? And if you do have to do that are the mods hard on the wallet ? Would you be just as well of buying last years Viper and with the cash you saved do a few mods and have as good fuel economy and enjoy a much lighter sled than the 1 ton RX1? :cussing:

only real take off problem an RX1 will have vs the rev is traction, the RX1's i see spin like hell. My GF's dad seems to get his to hook up, and it takes a mean sled to beat him out of the hole. ZRT800 with lots of mods couldn't get him from the hole, and he is stock, after a few yards the the zert creeped on by.

the 136 inch skid and Heavy Hitters clutching was the ticket for the RX-1. I ride with a few 800 revs, they never get the jump on me nor do they pass me :D

I must say I never thought that the RX1 was such a poent machine. What kind of fuel economy do you get with those mods? Also which mods were the most benefical to your machine? and Can somebody please explain the difference between the warrior and the rx1?What are the advantages of one over the other?Which one is the peper machine and why? Thanks everone for all info. fowarded to this topic.

Justin I never lost a race to a rev 800, but that doesn't mean tha t I could outrun them all. If you bye a rx1 make sure it has a good track like the ripsaw or put one on. The 03 track was useless. But for this coming year I've been turboized, this should make it very fast. For a stocker traction and clutch ramps and ECP air filters.

The Warrior has a 136 inch skid which greatly helps accelleration (because of better traction) and Much better floatation for off trail. The Warrior is quicker to 100, then the RX-1 should creep past doo to its shorter skid.

Best mods? On my 03 RX-1 the heavy Hitters were. On my Warrior the ECP K&N Filter kit was. Do them all and it just plain rocks. Last trip out, I got 18 MPGs (us gallons) on the nose riding with a very quick trail ported machZ. For the record, I always got the hole shot on him. We never ran a long enough distance to see if he could reel me in

oh man there is no way your going to smoke a rev off the line with an rx1. yes they are quick and fast but the rev just plain hooks up. and smoking a machz trail ported and set up ? :dazed: :slick: but anyhow i guess if you have a track and the chicken is running a stock track and your running off the hard packed then ok i could see that but you cant tell you hold him off and just keep going? we have had every rx1 under the sun run up here everything from stock clutching to heavy hitters and ripsaw track to predator tracks to studded and turbo so if you have it i have seen it. if have the turbo ok......lol... that just goes... that would be the way id go.i really like the rx1 but unless the big triples are having a bad day it really does not matter what you do, you might get close but your not going spank em.

Maybe the 3 REV 800's I ride with are just simply slow :dazed:

Are you guys just being brand loyal? How about the 2005 rx-1 who thinks it will compete against stock for stock against a f7 or 800 rev ho all machines being same year? And who thinks they should have that new 180hp R-1 engine in it?
Seriously who thinks this new machine can really compete in all the aspects that the other rockets can?

I'd love to see them punch up the RX-1 with the 180Hp mod. The 2005 RX-1 has been on a diet-and it's lost some weight. The new chasis set-up is drawing raves from reviewers. If you want a triple, try the RS Rage 4-stroke triple.

Believe it or not, snowmobiling is not just racing (you wouldn't know that from reading some of the other comments on this thread)-Yamaha seems to be addressing the entire spectrum of snowmobilier's concerns. I have an 03 RX-1 and it's the best sled I've ever owend. Nothing broken, no recalls, excellent mileage, very fast, no oil smell, no carrying extra 2-stroke or plugs, etc. I can trust this sled, which to me is the difference between having a good time or not while sledding.

Nope. Before my Warrior and RX-1 I owned 3 MachZ's; 95, 97 and a 99. Not to mention the 10 plus other Doo's I owned before the machs. So if I had a soft spot for any manufacturer it would be Doo. Obviously Yamaha impressed me enough to jump ship to go with an 03 RX-1. Then again to go with an 04 Warrior and I'm obviously still pleased because that's what's in my shop right now waiting for snow. When it comes to sleds, money is not an issue, I buy what I want when I want it :D

Just to let you know, I have 2 Arctic Cats and a Ski-Doo in my garage also. The RX-1 was purchased to replace my primary sled at the time, a Wildcat 700, that while loads of fun to blast in a straight line was one super heavy beast and the last year I had it, it broke almost everytime I rode it. The only reason I snow tested the RX-1, was my AC dealer didn't want to sell me the sled I wanted to buy-he was too busy pushing the F5's he had a truckload of and couldn't give away. I fell in love with the RX-1 and has never disappointed me since.
