A Lightning can't hang with an SRT10 unless it's heavily modded.

The SRT10'are pulling a mear 420hp at the rear wheels.

Most lightings with a small compressor pulley change and a bump in timing will make 390-400rwhp easily. (No need for "heavily" modified components)

Most lightings with mild engine modifications, will run sub to mid 11 second timeslips, at over 115mph.

Curb weight for the SRT 10 is 5000lbs
Curb weight for the lighting is 4670lbs.

I have witnessed many lightings make better ET's with everyday good drivers then the Ram SRT. ( I have witnessed the opposite also).

In alot of cases, the driver is going to be the one determining who's out in front.

Your also looking at a avg price of over $42,000 for the Ram SRT.
Lightings can be had for as low as $32,000 new. Add another $3000.00-$3500 into the lighting and you have a 450-500rwhp monster.

Both trucks are not for the weak.................

well they did do the testing with the lighting and as they said it was not much of a comparo. thats not to say the lightning is slow. its just that the srt is just quicker and faster. its in guiness as the fastest production truck..... and really it wouldn't matter i am just a mopar guy... ps the mustang big block project is a no go now......lol. the price tag is in 60,000 range and the viper is at the 125,000 so as i see it it makes for a cheap viper and i still have my pick up. for sale- 2003 3/4 ton quad cab 4x4 black sport with the hemi. fully loaded. 40000 km $38.000

Yeah, the lightning was in the guinness as well before the dodge. I'm sure next year ford will have something to blow dodge out of the water. No way they will give up their throne.

Enjoy the 2 MPG City, heh.

I just can't see why anyone would ever need that horsepower.......but then again I think that a 500cc engine in a sled is plenty......

26 gallon tank, 2 dollars a gallon, 7 miles to it, basic math says you're paying a lovable 28.5 cents a mile. I hope you aren't planning any long trips :p

Reguardless, it's going to be fast and sweet, and like you said, you're a mopar guy, and that's what you want.

I guess I shouldn't have said "heavily" modded, but modded, nonetheless.

Mopar or no car!

390-400rwhp :D ,we have diesels running 490-520 that are daily drivers getting 18 mpg.for the same money.thats where why not have the hp comes to mind it still efficient. w00t stock new cummins with fuel pressure box only nets 350 hp.injectors for 75-100 but that would require a turbo to lower egt's,but still under 4000 in mods.

Hey mach, did your truck arrive yet? If so, does it have a speed limiter on it? Just curious if there's a governor to shut it down well before 150 mph.

Bet she'll roast a set of skins, huh?

SA-WEEET!

Not that I haven't thought about getting one of these (I drive a '04 2500 with HO Cummins), but are you going to be able to pull your sleds around in the winter with 2 wheel drive? maybe you need to keep the 3/4 ton too :)

Personally, I think the 'SRT' lineup is awesome, but I think they need to come up with a 'DRT-10' (Dirt Racing Technology) version that has the viper motor, 4 wheel drive, and a baja-worthy suspension with say 18" of travel or something... They could also make a DRT-4 and sell a rally ready Neon off the showroom floor..

I want to know the same thing as Zog... did you get it yet???

FYI, I think the ford guys on here who think a lightning is going to touch this truck are delusional... Sure they're cheaper, you get what you pay for...

apparently you have not been to any strip usa where lightnings are running 10's and 11's without much work. traction is the srt 10's biggest foe. what is cool though is my MOM is looking at a quad cab one right now. its either that or an SRT 8 300c. we have become quite a dodge family lately but I still have my 97 cobra vert that beats vipers...........its fun but I spent a ton of cash on parts to do so. still less than buying the viper!

Spoiled #####, haha j/k. Congrats on the new ride, I know all about them. Be careful of the Lightnings, they are around the same speed. :D
