Cat makes a bearcat secondary which is a larger dia. I have heard of poeple using these on normal sleds. They say you can gear taller and still have the low end take off. Could you use this with a standard primary or would you have to use the bearcat primary. That is also larger dia. Would there be a belt that would fit with a standard clutch to a bearcat secondary set-up. Belt width on the bearcat is 1 7/16
standard is 1 3/8. ???????????????????

yes, you can use the bearcat secondary and the std diameter front clutch, you simply shim the spider for the wider belt, use the bearcat shim for this, its a cat part number, then use a 800 polaris storm belt, its the right length. What you gain is low end and not losing top end from low gearing, I have used this for years on the t cats on grass, works good.

Hi, I'm new here. I'm running a 97 ZRT 800 with the bearcat secondary and the stock 9 tower primary. I need help with the clutch setup. Springs, Hilex's, weights. Thanks. Great site!!

The Bearcat secondary is designed to be used with the larger dia. bearcat primary clutch. If you use the bearcat driven with a standard dia. primary clutch and a longer belt, the only thing you will notice is that your sled is geared down. At belt engagement you now have a larger dia. circle in the bearcat driven which gears down your sled, at full shift the belt will be farther from the center of the pulley on the Bearcat driven then a standard driven unless you have a Bearcat primary which will make a bigger circle at full shift forcing the belt to the bottom of the Bearcat secondary.
We tried racing using both Bearcat clutches a few years ago but slippage was a problem because of the flat sheave angles.
