I have a 00 SRX and trying to decide on a track :bash: . Most of my riding is in NW Ohio/SE Mich area. Snow can be kinda marginal here. I have heard nothing but good about the ripsaw. So I'm stuck between a ripsaw w/ 144 megabites or going with a 1'' track w/ 144. Presently sled is torn down getting ported and getting new slugs, have hauck silencer, and clutch hitting about 5000. Looking for some feedback on a track before I shell out 600-700 smacks. New member, Great Site. Thanks in advance for any help.

welcome to the site and I know what you mean by marginal snow,,, been there, and do that every year!!!
the ripsaw is a fine track but instead of shelling out 6 or 700 bones, take a look in the back of any of the sled mags,,, there is a guy that sells tracks (possible tracks usa) and he has some great prices and I have heard nothing but good about him,,,,

Yep, Tracks USA is where I've found the best price but by the time you buy studs it gets to be big bucks. Just want to get the right thing the first time. I geuss what I'm asking will I have more problems w/ tearouts w/ the longer stud for the 1 1/4 track verses a shorter stud on a 1" track when riding in marginal snow conditions?

For what its worth I have a buddy who put a 1.25 ripsaw on his 01 SRX and loves it, says its night and day to the stock track. He doesn't run studs though.

you won't need any studs with a 1.25 track, you'll be amazed by the way it'll hook

I have a buddy did the same to his SRX-we have marginal conditions also. Hooks up great on all conditions-he's very pleased with it.

I just put a Ripsaw on my SRX. It will not be studded. If you pm me, I'll tell you where they can be purchased for $355 shipped (121").

Also put a 1.25x136 Ripsaw on my ZR last year and am very satisfied with it. My sled's pushing 160hp and the track hooks up great. Was thinking about studs when I bought the track, but now I have no desire to stud it.

That's what my buddy said too. No need for studs, at least last season.

The reason I was thinking of studding was to hopfully get out on the lakes next winter. Sorry I didn't state that in my ealier post. And thanks to everyone that has replied!!

A lot of times people focus on the hookup factor when they're talking about tracks. I do a fair bit of lake running and like the picks for braking/icy conditions. I'm used to them and wouldn't even consider running without them and carbides now. Get sideways once on an icy patch watching snow coming up at you and that's not an experience you want to repeat.
if you're thinking about picks something to consider is clearance I have a 1" predator with 1 3/8" studs on my 99 SRX and there's no room to go any bigger with my pick guards. There might be some modification you can do to get around it but it doesn't strike me that it would be easy. As it is I have minor wear on the track where the pick guards contact when she bottoms out. Relative to a lot of guys I don't even rode that crazy, try to stay on the ground for the most part. I ecpect the wear would be more pronounced the more you grab air, and certainly the longer lug would wear more. If you're not picking you don't need the guard so it's not an issue. If you go with the the longer lug picks won't be an option later.
