I'd like to take the top of the head off to clean out the top cavity. Is this necessary? My compression is 125 psi per side. Are there any products to do this without opening the engine. Would anyone have the torque pattern for the top bolts? Thanks.

I have not heard of this being done as regular maintenance. If your doing it because your compressions low the answer is no....125 is still good. My compression is down to 110 & 116 (1995 Phazer) and I'm planning on doing the top end this summer. Why are you thinking of doing this....just curious?

I wouldn't mess with it until you do the whole top end.

Two stroke is new to me. This is something I had heard about and was curious. It runs fine otherwise. Someone had recommended I do bottom seals but a local shop mech informed me that he rarely does Yamy bottoms of sleds with my mileage (8400 km). My neighbours Venture 700 has 15000kms on it and he hasn't touched his yet so I guess I'll wait.
