this story was emailed to me with the pics. Not sure about the details, but the pics are sure a bummer.

FishHog

It is a 38 foot Fountain. The owner had it for about a week and has not made the
first payment on the 375,000 dollar pricetag. He was going 80 mph made a sharp turn, it threw him and his passenger out of the boat. He did not have his kill switch on, so it steadily accelerated until it hit the bank, went airborne and split on this tree.

well, i am thinking that if this guy had the money to make the payments on a 375,000 pleasure boat he will just get another one and he is counting his lucky stars that he wasnt in it.

Hopefully, he was smart enough to put insurance on it before disconnecting his brain for the ride.

Insurance or not, he is too damn stupid to own a boat like that. I wonder if his friends will go boating with him at the helm?

you wanna know willy? its because they let any IDIOT with a desire to drive do it with out REQUIRING any kind of lisence or even a course, and yes i do believe this applies to sleds as well. how many times you almost been plowed over on the trails? personally im glad it happened to him maybe now the stupidF--k will think about that tether next time he gets in a boat! or on a sled. he and his passengers could have had it ALOT worse.IMO

In Canada they made boating licenses mandatory due to kids crashing on jet skis. Unfortunately the first wave of legislation only covers boats smaller than 14 ft with a motor. This includes jet skis and my 10 ft springbok with a 2.5hp motor also. Canadian law at it's finest. I think by 2007 it will include all boats. I have had my pleasure craft operators license for a few years now. If you alredy have a harbour license than you are exempt from getting the the new one.

Like Perm said, atleast you do need an Operators card in Canada now. But the way they implemented it, doesn't make much sense.

I was chatting with the owner of a large yacht at the marina 45' range the other day. He pointed out that he doesn't need the card until 2007 to run the yacht, but if he sinks and gets in his dingy, he's breaking the law.

Now that makes a lot of sense.

Wouldn't have been so bad if the driver hooked up the tether to his beltloop.

true they do tend to weed themselves out, the only prob is they generally tend to wipe out some poor smuck along the way!

your right, i am always seeing morons on the trail coming around the corners on the far left, with 5 friends behind them, looking confused, thats really dangerous cause i know alot of them are not familiar with the area, one of these days i will pull one from their sled and insert my foot to the knee

i hope his insurance man asks him where his tether is, they will find it hanging off the key in the ignition, hopefully they hold up his claim, this is what drives up our insurance rates, and who knows this could have been an insurance job.

As Andy mentioned, by the look of the picture the lake he was on was very small in the back ground and there is no way on gods green earth that he should have been doing the speed he was to end up that far in the bush. What a friggin jack ### :cussing: :cussing: :cussing:
