What does everyone think of doing a 136 inch track mod. to 2004 Viper S? Maybe triple Bender pipes? Clutch kit ? 136 inch ripsaw, with no studs? What kind of rail extensions are available? I think this would be great package, what do you think?

May have a brand new 121 Ripsaw track for sale if I go thru with it.

I have an '02 with a 136 conv. and Bender triples. Everything was done by a dealer prior to me buying it. I love the way it handles and rides. The power is awsome when its jetted right. Mine is jetted for -10 degrees
I didn't do any tuning to it myself and rode it in near 40 degree weather. The power was gone and the fuel milage was too. I got about 7-8 mpg.
Mine has a 1.25 finger track with screws, I think the ripsaw would be the way to go.
Also, mine has the fact. one-piece rails under it, so I can't help with advise on extentions.
One more thing, if you haven't already, add precition skis. They made the biggest improvement in handling. I tinkered with the rear skid numerous times and couldn't get it to stop darting until I added the skis.

Eurofan,
you say you are jetted for -10, I guess that be would fahrenheit, Thats pretty cold. What was the mileage at 0 to 25 degrees? was it close to stock? Or I guess you never road it stock did you? The precision skis, I take it you mean Skidoo dual runner skis. The Viper S comes with deep keel sattleles skis, and apparently more aggressive and lighter (designed for the RX1) than the regular Viper. I guess i'll find out soon enough. I'm not sure if the 136 inch kit would be worth it. I like to get out and break trail some times but don,t want to sacrifice handling too much. What do you think of the Bender single pipe for the Viper( 4 HP and 4 pounds lighter or maybe just a Bender can, 10 pounds lighter. maybe these would be more practical.

What would the long rails be worth from Yamaha, and what model would they be from? Also how does the tunnel extension look? Do you have the rear heat exchanger?

Thanks for you comments

As far as the jetting is concerned, I am strictly going on what the previous owner told me. He lived on a lake and kept it jetted fat for safety. I have talked to numerous people with this setup and everyone told me not to expect more than 11-12 mpg tops when jetted properly and ride modestly. Even then it will drop to 8-9 mpg when you wail on it.
The skis I had robbed off our spare sled and had to return them, but they were awesome. They were almost too heavy to steer because they had so much traction. My brother bought an '04 RX-1 wrecked this year and it has the aftermarket style precision ski, so the guy that had that one must have liked the dual runner over the deep keel.
The tunnel ext. looks great on mine, I'll get some pics if poss. I also have the bills from mine so I'll see what the guy spent on it. As far as the single pipe goes, I don't know a lot about it, but would guess the weight savings would help considerably.
One of my brothers has a stock Viper that gets a consistent 14-15 mpg on trail.
I do have the rear heat exchanger, it is highly recommended by Bender when you get their pipes to install that and one of their head gaskets, which mine has also.
I'll get back to you on the prices for the rear extension.

Unfortunately I was unable to find my paperwork back that I got with the sled but I do remember that he paid about $800 for the tunnel ext. and rails plus the track ( I think $500-600. He had Hacker's Yamaha in Houghton Lake MI do all the work and I stopped in there on our way home from our trip. They had performance packages priced up on display in the dealership. The pipes listed for $900, and the clutchwork (Heelclicker) was about $650 for both clutches with a helix. I think the pipes included the Bender head gasket but not the rear heat exchanger, I think those are about $200 more. I remember he told me that he had nearly $13k in the sled on the trail.
I did find some pics of my sled that I took right after we got home last Feb. Please excuse the dirt, I didn't take time to clean it up before I took the pics. If this is something that you still want to do, I would sell you this sled for $4500 USD. You could swap all the mods off and replace with your stuff and probably still resell it for $3600-$3800. That would put all your mods in place for less than $900 USD, not a bad deal compared to new cost. My sled is an '02 ER with 2900 miles on it. I am in the process of putting custom paint on the hood as it was damaged when I got it. If it something you may be interested in shoot me an e-mail and I'll reply with some more pics and info.

Last fall I put a 136" Ripsaw on my 2003 Viper ER. We did it live on a webcam in the garage. I'll see if I can find some pics:

I went with TracksUSA rail ext with hyfax ext kit and picked up a track at Rich Motorsports. You can get everything from Chuck at Mountain Performance, as he's got his stuff together. I ended up changing the gears, and drivers and wish I would have gotten everything from Chuck.

Here's a link to the LED brake light I added to the back of the tunnel ext.. http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forum/index...opic=28352&st=0 (http://www.snowmobileworld.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=28352&st=0)

I'll have to get some photos for ya soon.

I found my paperwork back for my sled, but it didn't have the info on it that I thought it did. I thought it had an itemized list of all that was done with prices. All that was on it was the original price new of $8900+ w/ track conv. installed.
I think the guy embellished a little on the size of his investment, or paid for a lot of wrenching. One thing I thought was odd was the amount of money spent didn't include EGT's. That would be almost necessary for fine tuning I think.
Oh well, if anybody is interested in it, PM me about it. I am starting on the hood this weekend hopefully.
