I just bought a 2000 xcr 120 for the little guy and it wont idle at all. I changed the gas nad have bought a new plug but I think i need to clean the carb.

Now the question is how do you get the thing off without tearing off the damn seat cowling. I pried off the air box cover and i felt the nuts that hold that on but getting to it is horribly tight.

Any idea's before i get too frustrated.

Also, does the no idling sound right for a dirty carb. It will idle with the choke on.

All carbs have a low speed curcit and a high speed circut. The low speed circut controls low speed and idle. If the low speed circut is plugged it wont idle or run at low speed. When you ad choke you ad fuel and it runs, soooo do what you have to do to get to the carb, if you have to completely strip the #######, do it. You can do it , be patient and the little guy will be smilin :)

I took the carb off last night and cleaned the whole thing out ( no skin left on my knuckles at all). However, sled only ran a little bit better. When I took the bowl off though it had so much varnish and sludge in the bottom I am worried that the jet is plugged as well. The slow speed jet is so small I think it may be permanently plugged. The sled runs well when i lift the track and/or run it on dirt. It just wont idle. I think I am going to order new jets and change the plug.

Any thoughts?

You should be able to get a tag wire threw it,But new jet should fix it.I had a old sled did this to made it idle alot better.

This is where all you wrenching is going to take you... Alot of fun goes into the snow-go outlet for the young ones. Fun as hell I tell you. I bought my sons brand new for $1900. Someone should have told me to stop but I was in such a frenzy that I couldn't. The best drug in the world. Cost about the same though, now the sled has about $8,500 into it. :lmao: About the pluged holes try useing wire... bare the wire then take a couple of the copper wires and pass them through the jet and set screw. Hope none of the govoner stuff is out of wack. Just getting it clean and running will help clear everthing out somewhat. Just put the little bugger on it when it comes back you will not have a idleing problem.... you will have a kid that will not stop asking to go for a ride. Just fast enough to out run you but to slow to go with the big ones. This is where money comes into effect!!! Mo money...Mo speed!! My sons goes 30+ mph with a 79 pound rider. M10, polished and ported, ohlins shocks, c@a pro skis, piped, raiser bars, stearing moved forward 3 1/2 inches, shaved head 137 psi runs trick gas, and looks like a Yamaha SX to boot.
