I couldn't think of any other place to ask this question. The Tech help from India just isn't working out. w00t LOL :bash:
Here's my problem:
Had dial-up, computer/internet worked fine. Installed SBC-Yahoo DSL and can't surf the web. Only sites you can go through are ones that I know for a fact, don't have pop-ups or a second page that loads. If we do go to a good site and try to click on a picture or something that would open up in a new window, it freezes up and the hour glass comes up and says (not responding) at the top of the window. Same thing hapens to weather.com, cnn.com..... will load most or all of the front page, but then when you try to click something, hour glass comes up and says (not responding) at top of window.
We've tried with pop-up blocker on/off, uninstalled spybot and adaware, re-set the defaults on the internet options......
Connection is very good and computer is 2003? Compaq with Windows XP.
I'd appreciate any suggestions of what I could try to get it to work. Going round and round with people half-way across the world who are hard to communicate with, hasn't helped yet. :withstupid: :cussing: :blahblah: Thought I'd try some good 'ol American help. :D Ha,ha.....
Thanks guys!

Try downloading/installing/using Firefox (http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/0.9.2/FirefoxSetup-0.9.2.exe)

See what happens :bash:

It's probably set up to block pop-ups; if you can find and uncheck the box, you should work okay. I set up my father's computer and had the same problem (not SBC DSL, just plain old dial up, but a new computer). It was freezing and not loading; so changed the set up. Also disabled Norton; that always seems to cause problems.

Make sure you don't have two anti-virus softwares. If you do , they will conflict. SBC DSL may have a trial or a anti-virus built in.
