first off, its good to just make sure your carbs are clean and your clutch is in good working order, bearings are good along with other basic maitenance procedures. after that it gets more expensive and more knowledge is needed about your sled. A good clutch setup is a good place to start.

most perfromance upgrades cost money. Most people that trial ride want at least good acceleration and top end. the best way to get that is buy having a well ballanced clutch set up for the trial. get yor sled hooking up with some studs and maybe a deeper lug track. those 2 things will cost a few hundred but will be well worth it and probably the best bang for the buck.

one cheap performance gain is to make sure your engine alignment is dead on.that way their you get the best performance out of your clutches

If the sled has multiple carbs, make sure they're synchronised @ idle & open @ the same when the throttle is pressed.

Make sure the secondary halves are free to open & close. If it is binding, you'll lose performance.
