I bought it and I rarely use it. It is a good starter map to get yourself going.

Spend the extra money and purchase the City Select. It's very detailed although it does not have land information it's makes it nicer because you can see how far you are to the nearst town and stuff.

I have the Garmin topo and found this one showed the most detail of the 2 tracks and seasonal roads in Michigan.

ONce you download the topo, do you have to activate it or does it automatically come up detailed when you turn the GPS on? Did you guys download the software that came with the GPS V too?

I have a Garmin E-Trex and Toppo does show the most detail in the woods - as Paul said - it shows 2-tracks and trails when other Garmin software doesn't show anything. I honestly think for sleddin Topo is best.

I was looking at the "demo" topo map that you can view on Garmin's web page and it has all the two tracks and secondary roads labeled. Also has all the roads in every small town around me labeled. I really want one for this year, and I think I will end up getting one. All lakes are labeled also. 100% better than the base map that comes standard on my GPS IMO.

The GARMIN TOPO IS nice however, I find that it has too much detail and is hard to read while riding.

I agree that the topo lines showing elevation are a pain.....it makes the screen too busy, but it is a trade-off since the detail in this map is so good.

I wonder if you can turn this detail off.

Also - I don't know about you guys but with all the Garmin E-trex models you can not read the unit and drive. I always have to stop to read the darn thing because the screen is so small. If I am following my tracks back to a spot and I zoom the screen in maybe I can see, but for the most part I have to stop to focus and see the GPS.

I dont know about the other models, but I have an e-trex vista, and you can choose how much detail is shown on the screen.
