I have a question for the members on here than are younger than 30. Is there any significance as to how you young 'uns wear your ball caps? I was @ the mall today & saw several guys w/ their hats @ 2, 3 & 4 o'clock (12 o'clock being normal like most of us old geezers, 6 o'clock backwards).

Also, who decided "trucker" caps were cool? IMO they look pretty lame & something that should be left in the 70s.

Revrnd,

Your guess is as good as mine and I am under 30. Most kids round these parts that wear there hats like that also wear the pants hanging off the butts and are trouble causing punks...not to say all people who dress like that are just most of them around here..G

My son might be uncool, but wears his Suzuki GSX-R 1000 cap proudly at 12:00. Not sure what it is-too many kids picking it up off MTV-if the rappers are wearing them that way, then it must be cool.

Kind of like long hair when I was a kid. It was cool then. Would look like a bush on my head to me now. Oh yeah, remember designer jeans? Like I want to wrap my butt tight for folks to see these days! Cottage cheese in a bag.

I pulled a box of old trucker caps out of the attic and my kids had a field day."These are the coolest" they said. Every time I look at an old pic of myself in a trucker cap I can't believe how dorky I looked, but I guess I was ahead of my time.

I have noticed more "trucker" hats out there. I decided not to make any "trucker" hats for my clothing company so far, but, unfortunately, that may change depending on demand.

I guess I fit into the "under 30 group". I go with the 12 o' or 6 o' though. It seems to me these days the stranger you look....the cooler you are. I'm cool with not being cool I guess...

Hey we should all cut these "kids" some slack. Are you shure that they can afford to buy a new hat LOL. Maybe they can't afford to buy pants that fit either !
I really can't understand why anyone would where there pants around there arse. The only time mine are there are when I am on my way to bed!

i am 24 and have noticed this too. i proudly wear my hats at ether 12 or 6 o'clock position. just depends on the hat, if its a full back, well its on backwards, hats with straps i wear the way they were ment be.

I am not into this old trucker style hat at all. Some of you old guys should dig way back in your closets, pull them out and sell them. might make some good money. :D

When the young guy at work comes in with his pants at half mast I ask him if another rapper died :lmao: i really need to remember that one. :lmao:

There were a lot of older folks w/ the kids in tow :D . I guess the kids were there for Slayer :whatever: The only time I've got a cap on @ 6 o'clock is when I'm welding.

LOL I am 21, never put my hat on backwards, do where trucker hats, or my cowboy hat, depending on the drink of choice for the night. I must just be a big hick.

common now, those "thugs" just wanna look tough. they dont want people messin' wit der boyz!!

now myself on the other hand dont really care much for hats being on sideways. those kids are usually the ones who act tough but really arent. plus, if i came home with a hat sideways my dad would probably have his way with me.

now to the trucker hats, i dont wear them personally but a few friends of mine do. they look alright on some people but others they just look like crap. they make some funny ones tho with good sayings that i might wear just for laughs.

They are usually the ones with the foam in the front and mesh in the back and sit pretty tall like an Elmer Fud style...lol

I went to see Iron Maiden last summer (hey - I grew up on this stuff!!) and was simply amazed at how many young people, well mostly young guys, were there. Probably half the audience was 'new' fans. I couldn't believe it, I had no idea they had a cult following among todays youth.... I just went to see if they'd come out in wheelchairs... :p

Back on topic, I think Paul would look good in a trucker hat.

The thing with these trucker hats is that sure the authentic old ones are cool, but it's the designers making their new hats look like old ones, and selling them for outrageous prices that is really really cool

ex, one 'cool' brand to have now is Von Dutch, which sells for about 80 bucks a hat....ya that's right, 80.

but people kids buy them up...or wait, kids' parents with too much money buy them up..

I remember when I was a kid we used to call the "trucker hats" , "Pro Model Wiffle Ball Caps" because of the mesh.

OH! Thanks for the explaination! I was wondering too. Hmmmm. I think I cleaned out my old stuff when my parents moved to their new house. I probably could've sold some nice 'trucker hats' on e-bay for some extra cash! I do remember one though, the foam under the front part was all deteriorated and falling apart. LOL I wonder if that's worth any money. Ha,ha.....

I've said the same thing about my nephew who's now 7. If he wears his cap sideways he'll get a cuff.

A couple of years ago I got him a Dale Jr. cap when we were at the races. The first thing he did when he got it was bend the brim like the drivers do. :D

hats on backward/ sideways pants down around there knees i don't get it. i do know one thing shoplifting has to be way down cause they need both hands to hold up there pants when they walk :D . [ mesh hats ] very popular in the 70's when i was in high school.

the whole trucker cap thing is unusual i think. its true though, the more unusual you dress, the cooler you are. well thats what kids think nowadays. im 18, and i wear mine backwards, just because it looks better on me. the whole wearing it sideways is stupid. the kids do it because all the rappers do it now. i think its hilarious watching the white kids try to be black. they try so hard, but they'll never accomplish their goal. hopefully theyll out grow it, because it would look rediculous watching 35 year old men dressing up like thugs.

12 o clock is the only correct way to wear a baseball cap. But, that does not matter to me because I usually wear a Irish Tophat.

Most the trucker hats around these parts is because we have real rednecks, not suburban kids who want to be Ashton Kutcher.
The only fools with their hats sideways and pants half-down are the idiots at the community colleges. And off campus they get the all the respect they ask for.
