I got this email today @ work:
The following memo came from the Windsor Transmission Plant and I thought may interest
those of you travelling to Detroit on business. Please delete if you don't
travel to US.
Highway 402 Changes
I received the following notification from Windsor Divisional Security this
morning and wanted to pass it on to you in case you travel highway 402 from
the Port Huron/ Sarnia crossing out to highway 401. Due to recent
fatalities on the 402 just east of Sarnia there has been some changes to
the posted speed limit for west bound traffic. We have been advised by the
O.P.P. that there were two fatal accidents in the past week with people
travelling faster then the posted speed and running into the back end of
trucks that are stopped due to border crossing delays. The Police have
advised us that they will be a more aggressive in enforcing traffic
violations. For west bound traffic the new posted speed limit is 70
Kilometres Per Hour (43.5 Miles Per Hour) and this speed reduced zone
stretches out for 7 Kilometres (4.3 Miles) east of Sarnia.
(Reprinted from Windsor Scorecard)
Coming home from the States @ this crossing, I have seen trucks stopped on the highway for a couple of miles.
