Hi all, I'm new to buying a sled and paying for the insurance etc. Wondering how much it costs to license and insure a sled per year. Sled would be a 98 XC 700, I'm 25 and not married if that makes a difference? I just am trying to get an idea if I can afford it or not. Thanks for any help!

Alot depends on your area, your age and driving record will be some main factors. I would check with progresive or the carier you have your car ins through. as far as trail permits go check with the sec of state and they will be able to tell you

I m 16.... I am for Estevan Sask and it costs me $50 till march to renew my plates and for a trail permit. Here you need a trail permit and a liecence plate. I don t know what it is there.... My unlcle and dad get theres plates renewed and i think they were around 30 for renew and 50 for a plate.

In Minnesota, your license is good for 3 years, so you don't have to buy every year. I just had to renew the 500's this year, but can't recall what I paid. It was maybe something like $65 or something???? I honestly can't remember, but it's not bad when you consider that it only comes around every few years.

I asked my insurance guy what it might cost to insure my 700. He guess off hand around $225/yr or so, but that was just off the top of his head, he did not look everything up. I actually don't have any insurance on it yet, as I'm still paying on too many automotive policies. I hope to have that straightened out by the time the season gets here. I've heard stories about owners running into trouble trying to insure certain machines depending on engine size, modifications, etc. The best one to answer your insurance ?? would be an insurance agent of your choice.
