Last year it was "who is Blair going to sign with?" has anyone heard or know of any riders changing teams or brands. Do you think AC will sign any Pro riders?

Heard something about Trevor John maybe switching. *It was in a post here awhile back I think. Nothing solid though.

What team did Aaron Scheele race for? There's an opening for a rider.

YellowBelly
05-15-2002, 10:22 AM
Aaron Scheele was a Team Arctic racer, but I think he ran out of the Judnick trailer.
Trevor John is no longer with Team racing, he was replaced with one of the Crapo boys. So, hopefully Arctic Cat signs him. I also heard the contracts of Carl Schubitzke and Noel Kohanski are up. Other than that, I'm not sure who is available, other than a few semi-pro riders that may be coming up.

Polaris would be stupid to let Noel get away.

Curt Petersen was moving up to Pro. He's staying with the team he was with this season (Scheuring?)

Peterson rode for Warnert Racing.
JT and DJ with Team Amsoil will be backed by Polaris this season. *There Skidoo contract was up this year.

YellowBelly
05-16-2002, 10:16 AM
I can hardly believe that! JT and DJ going to Polaris? I doubt it. Who will Scheuring be replacing them with? Why would they jump ship after having their best years ever? *I will believe it when I see it.

New rumor is that Trevor John may be riding Blue next year!
What a mistake!
Team Green better get in there and get some riders or I'll have to step up! *LOL

With the money Ski-doo was paying Scheuring, I wonder if they have any talks going on with other teams/riders?

I would think that Polaris must have something coming up for next season. Blair said in his Snow Goer column that he saw both the Sno-Pro & REV early on & didn't like the direction AC was going. Plus the money probably helped http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

In the press release Stve says that he is very excited about the new race sled. Makes you start to wonder what is coming?!? It wouldn't suprise me with the 50th anniversary coming at Polaris next season to see something new. As a Amsoil dealer and Polaris racer I am glad to see the Amsoil "superteam" come to Polaris. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Myers Racing: *Thanks for the link. Good info. Too bad for Cat that Schubitzke and Island went back to Polaris.
Polaris has quite a few very good riders for next year and should be able to produce a lot more wins than in the past few years.
Any info on a new sled for Polaris?

greensteak,
*as for the possibility of a new sled for polaris i think to bring over dj and justin there must have been some sleds uncovered at polaris to entice these guys over to the polaris camp. but that is only what i think.

Other than Trevor John and Noel Kohanski, the left-overs don't look too good.

YellowBelly
05-30-2002, 02:44 PM
He wasn't on the list of 2002-2003 riders. Along with John, Titus, and Durmas.
Sounds like the Mike Island deal isn't done yet, but they expect it to go through.

revrnd

You'd think with the season Noel & Mike had, & if they have a new sled coming, that Polaris (either USA or Canada) would want to keep them on their sleds.

Cat lost another up and coming rider. *Madd Matt Judnick just signed to Polaris for three years. Carl Schubitzke will be teamed up with Matt and they will wrench out of Judnicks rig.

Who is going to ride for cat this year? Just Tucker *YIKES* everyone seems to be jumping ship.

I think cat cut their race program funding by about 44% so they will be pretty lean next year. It also seems to be well accepted polaris will be sending out a new mod sled with an a-arm front. I wonder what else they might have up their sleeve?

Myers Racing Inc
06-04-2002, 07:46 AM
I talked to a neighbor yesterday who is a big Cat racer and runs MX in the summer and he said the rumors going on around there is Tucker is talking about trying to race supercross next winter. If it is true he won't be running many snocross races because of schedule conflicts. I remember reading an article after Tucker won the X games as a Semi Pro and he said then that he would prefer to race motocross and supercross if the opportunity came around so it didn't surprise me that he might be thinking of going that route but I think it would be a big mistake.

revrnd

Do you mean a mistake for him or AC? He'll get a LOT more exposure across the US riding bikes.

BERNING
06-04-2002, 02:01 PM
Isn't Tucker under contract with AC? *If he is I wouldn't think he would be able to race motocross on snocross weekends because of the contract. * *

Taconitehead how to you know cat cut their race program by 44%.

Myers Racing Inc

I think it will be a mistake for him. Don't get me wrong he is fast on bikes also but no where near what he needs to be. I have had a few friends that raced bikes since they were on 60cc and they won Ponca and Loretta Lynns but when they went Pro they did alright right but never were able to make that next step up. They were amazingly fast on the local level but on the national level they were midpack. I had the privilege of riding with Heat Voss for most of the summer in '96 and he was by far one of the fastes riders I have ever ridden with. He introduced me to some of the other Pros and they were the "lappers" on the National seen and they were even blazing fast. Look at Voss now, he is doing well but he still isn't at the top.
I think Tucker should stay with snocross because he has been a dominate racer the last two years and back when Morgan starting racing Pro snocross he said he made more money that first year than he did racing MX. I know that it is something he wants to do but I think it would be foolish to throw away his snowmobile career. Who knows but if he does go to MX sure will make for an interesting snocross season. * *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I new Morgan was staying, but I watched several x-games, and snow cross races on espn and I can't remember hearing these other teams name which means they weren't as dominant I would have to assume as Morgan and Amsoil team kicked ###.

"Olah Racing closed a deal with Arctic Cat for the coming two seasons. “I’m extremely pleased to be associated with Arctic Cat”, said team owner Brad Olah. “They lead the industry in technology. I’m excited about the upcoming season, and just as important, by the value we will deliver to our sponsors. By developing top teams, producing consistent race results, and delivering innovative marketing programs, we help our sponsors build brand equity.”

As part of the agreement, Olah Racing will campaign Arctic Cat Sno Pro sleds in its Pro and Semi-Pro efforts. Olah Racing will have TJ Gulla and Kent Ipsen in the WSA Pro Classes. Robbie Malinoski and Ryan Simons will compete in the WSA Semi-Pro Classes.

Olah Racing will maintain two separate crews for their Pro and Semi Pro teams. The Olah Racing Professional Team will include Crew Chief Steve Thorsen and Dean Schwarzwalter, Chief Mechanic, both former World Champions."

Hopefully Ipsen will be back to his old self this season! Gulla too. He kinda had an off season or something, trying to get use to the F'cat chasis.

jdsmi
08-22-2002, 01:28 PM
This looks on paper to be a great deal for Cat. *Olah has a great reputation for fielding good oval teams and anyone who has followed Cat's racing history would know that Thorsen and Schwarzwalter are among the best (I believe they were both associated with Sturgeon when he was racing).
If Gulla and Ipsen can stay healthy they should do fine.

Now, they need more green sleds backing them up. *It'll still be tough for three racers to match the number of quality riders that Poo and Doo are putting on the track.
