hey guys, i have a 99'mxz 600 and would like to put some extra horsepower into it. I would like to have more throttle responce. What parts work the best, dyno port exaust? V-force Reed valves? clutch kit? or is there anything you would reccomend? Thanks

WHERE DO I BUY THESE PARTS, WHAT BRAND OF CLUTCH IS THE BEST

The bigest bang for your buck is in the clutches.

Throttle responce can be improved a bunch with Boysen Reeds. VFIII's dont realy give much more than Boysens in performance, and the Boysens are alot, read ALOT cheaper. That said, pull out the stock reed cages and inspect them for delamination. If any signs of missing rubber, then replace with the VFIII's. If there good, then save the money by purchasing Boysens and use that money towrard clutching.

Pipes are another performance thing you can add if you have some money to toss at the sled, but woudnt be the first thing on my basic mod list. You need to be able to tune the carbs and clutches to new a new pipe as well and this can be tricky with limited knowledge of both.

Its my opinion that these type of bolt on mods dont realy add HP to the sled. I feel that they free up whats allready there. Clutching just changes usable powerband so that it hits harder under acceloration.

Hey jhamblett , just my opinion but I would say start with a clutch kit and work from there. You might be impressed with the take off response you can get with a good set up. If you want more power and response from there then start thinking about pipes and reeds.

I am from the Lyndonville , East Burke, area of Vermont. Most people from the area that are looking for high performance will go through Benoits in Montpelier.

good luck and welcome to the site.

knightrider!!! my buddy is best friends with Lanny benoit. BENOITS is where HP is made ladys and gents. they have the fastest sled on grass in the world right now. 1000cc

I had a 99 mxz600 that i did alot of work to.

she honked. had it set up on grass.

i beat alot of bigger sleds in 500 feet.

zr800's clutched, vipers,venom, rx1,srx, blair, 600ho, 670ho
got beat alot by race sleds though to

I will find out the clutch set up i had in it. ( all around set u, right out of the hole and till top end)

bored cylinders .020 over ( hardly any diff)
boyseen reeds
cylinders port matched to the exhaust
mild head work
96 chisels

had alot of people ask me what was done, or saying "i hate seeing that 600 beside me :inlove: :hallo1:

if you do this. HOLD ON. she yanks very very hard with the clutch set up that was in it.

i would have added crank shop pipes and still done more clutching. the clutching was just touched. had alot more to do. then v force reeds. ( v force work best when ported though)

i loved my 99 but wanted a rev. almost kept the 99 to. had it for a little while, while i had my rev.
