i have been riding a 98 mxz 670 with a 1.5" track for about 3 seasons now. in nebraska, where i live, it works great, but snow in nebraska sucks, so we go out west only. i've been looking at a 2000-2002 summit 700 or 800 with a 144" track. how much difference is there, power wise, between the 2 displacements and between the different years? i like to hillclimb, but i also need to be able to ride in nebraska if the guy upstairs decides to let it snow. this is why i would like to stick with a 144", but any help on that would be appreciated as well. thank you much.

the 00 700 is pretty strong on the dyno.showing 4-5 more hp than any of the 01-02's I have seen.in the hills I would take the 800.but on flat land 0-90 mph they are pretty close.

02 700. Only reason is because the 02 had a better skid and I have more faith in the 700 motor being solid on a used sled. Lots of broken rods stories on the 02 800's and the rings are more apt to be out of them. The 800 does "feel" stronger though and coming off a 670 you'll notice the cc. The 700 kind of has a wide smooth power that doesn't "feel" real strong, but line them up and they are REAL close.
