i just was wondering what the difference between a dry and a wet sump is? and the benefits of either? thanks

wet or dry refers to lube oil storage. wet means the oil is stored in the crankcase. dry means the oil scavenged from the bottom of the motor and is stored in a remote tank. Dry sump typically will make more power beacuse of the lack windage by the crank. Also, without the crank whipping thru the oil, you don't get aeration of the oil. Another bonus with the dry sump, is that the sled can be operated at an angle & because there is no oil pump pickup, you don't have to worry about the oil pump sucking air.

A while back there was some discussion about the AC 4 stroker not to be operated on a side hill (?)

A dry sump can add 15 to 20 hp over a wet sump in a typical V8.

Also can same your engine from oil pressure drop when you take your foot of the gas because the dry sump allways has the same pressure.
