I have come across a vintage merc. it is white with black and blue decals. 2 low mounted headlights amd the gas tank on the back with the taillight. it says 340 S/R on the tunnel. its in reasonable shape. the track is gone and so is the rewind. the hood is free of cracks and the tunnel looks good. is this worth picking up? I just want something neat to mess around with. how hard are parts to find? I will put up a pic later.

How much can you pick it up for? I have found that parts(for the most part) are very easy to find. There are a couple of local used parts dealers here in northern Minnesota. I could give you some phone numbers if you get it.

If you can just take it, or get it for $50, what the heck is the problem???? Of course buy it. Parts aren't very expensive for old sleds, and for the most part, not too hard to find.
I, in fact, almost enjoy riding my old sleds just as much as my 800. I would say get it, get it running, and have a blast.
Good Luck

here it is! what year is it? I talked to the guys wife today and she said he was wanting to get rid of it. hopefully if I tell him I will pick it up I can get it free. it needs part of the bellypan........its plastic! the rewind and a track. other than that it shouldnt need much. my dad and uncle just picked up a 335 and 399 olympics. I think they are like 70's the headlights flip up. the 399 has elec start too! they run great! so I needed something for when we are not all riding our new 1000's :D

You may want to post a message on the NH Vintage Snowmobile Classifieds, HERE (http://interactives.alxnet.com/cgi-bin/slither/Driver.py/InterActives/Guestbook/Guestbook.render?guestbook_id=2481) . There are a lot of great people on there that would give you a hand gettin' your Merc going.
