First thing,is to have it in the water, moving above fish.

Aw come on....give me some credit http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ....I had it reading depth properly, but it would NEVER show fish....now I know that there are fish in the lakes we go on, and my buddy can see fish on his sonar and even catch them whenever they show up on the screen. I don't know if its the transducer angle or what http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Oly, is that the only sonar that is on in the boat. I know when my dash sonar is on it messes up my front locator(transducer on trolling motor) I need to get a transducer with a diff. frequency http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif *The cone angle probably is not the problem. Is the transducer a thru hull style or transom mount? The mountimg position of the transom mount ducer must be below the backwash.

A worm and hook tied from some rope to a twig is all you should need

http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/withstupid.gif You should even go get them with your bare hands, just grab those trouts right out from the water http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif
Have you tried shutting off the fish ID ?

Yeah...that is the only sonar in the boat.
I have to turn off the fish ID to display the arches (supposedly) but it still won't do it. I have turned up the sensitivity and +/- the grayline, but nothing works. I even tried zooming in. I have basically tried everything the book says. Our transducer pooched itself somehow last fall, so I am putting a new one on, with a 20deg cone (not sure what is on there now...Dad bought it and didn't really pay attention. http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

So no one else has had this problem? I'm not even sure if the Optima is SUPPOSED to show arches....but I think it is...for the price it better!!! http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif

Yeah...the bent nail/bailing twine/willow combo might work for the fish YOU catch Snow Monkey....mine require something more substantial.... http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
