I have a 1996 Formula Z 583. The engine was just rebuilt and it bogs when you give it gas. I have no specs on this year. How can you set the rotary valve with out a degree wheel? Also does anyone have the carb specs on this (mains, pilots, needle position ect)? and the ignition timing? Thanks

When i installed the stock valve i located TDC on the MAG cylinder with a dial indicator. The valve edge was aligned with the rigid mark . When installed this way, at TDC on the MAG the valve was lined up w/mark and the PTO port was covered by the valve. Is this correct?

I bring mag side piston to tdc and check with a pencil. Dwell it at top there...yep, looks like the top.

I place the rv with the edge at the bottom of the pto side hole, and if it covers the hole, I flip the plate over.

Not scientific, more ballpark, however that's all i've ever done. he he

Could bog be there from bad belt deflection?

The bog is still there when the sled is in the air on the lift. With or with out the belt on. It idles fine, mid to top rpms are fine. However it seems odd, the idle speed screws are way. New plugs, fresh gas, and were cleaned.

mud, I can email you a degree wheel you can size to RV size, what valve are you working with, the specs vary and the port sizes vary so the specs can be different with the same RV.

If you have access to a fax machine I have a photocopy of the factory Ski-Doo RV degree wheel. I can fax you a copy, and just cut it out and use that.
