Can anyone tell me what to look for or whatch out for!

The sled runs great has 4000 miles on it. I was told it was set up and purchased from Hauck,s in Wisconsin in 98! Still has the Hauck dealer decals on it!

Supposedly the crank was trued and hauck clutching and hauck pipes installed!

The sled seems to rip around the lawn very nice! Had to do it! I will be using it as a backup sled this winter probably less than 500 miles or so! (unless I really like it)

Any hints on what to do as far as preventive maintaince or extra parts I should purchase for this sled would be greatly appreciated!

Also I was told I should upgrade the headlight? Hmm.
What other yamaha sleds interchange parts and is there a parts imager on line anywhere!

Where do you guys get the best deal on parts!

Thanks

its seems the crank has been done......so i would put some fresh gas and go.....and if you only plan on doing a few hundred milles i would not worry about the light. .....its the sled i currently ride and really like it , until the trails get really nasty ....other than that no complaints.

I am going to have the shocks all rebuilt on it and go through the suspension first! I am going to have the rear shocks valved alot stiffer to prevent bottoming out!

I have been real impressed with the way its been starting first pull everytime I start it once a day! just trying to learn the caracteristics of the sled!

How deep of lug track could I put on this sled? I have a takeoff from a rev but it's a 1.25 lug could I swap with no problems while I have the suspension out!

a 1.25 can fit if you remove the stud guards.....i`ve never bottom out on my 98 and its over 8000km .......i find the rear end gets stiffer the harder i push it. And the front has Ohlins.....wich will probaly outlast the sled.

Have a dealer look over the ski spindles. They needed to be beefed up on the 98s so they had them replaced at the dealer level after the fact. Chances are they've already been done but it's worth checking. You don't want your skis to start flopping around at 115 mph.

By the way, it probably won't be your second sled for long so you might as well start shopping for a blue helmet.

And get some torsion bars.
