Before I got home from work, I had a bit of running around to do. Saw one of the new Hummer H2s. I didn't think they were being sold yet. This one had *regular Ontario truck plates on it & didn't notice any shipping labels in the windows. Must have been some flunky from GM HQ with it for the weekend.

I have seen a couple on I75 a couple of weeks ago. I also got to see the dies being made around December when I was working at GM.

I don't know man, $52+K for a Suburban is allot of cash.

I live not too far from the production plant, so we see'em almost every day. *Kind of overwhelming at first. *But after awhile its starting to look pretty cool.

Yeah, $50K + is a bit steep. *But, the H3 will be out in another 3-4 years and it will be priced around $30K, supposedly.

You're right Paul. Courtice (Curtis, NOT Corteese as the trendy people say) is on the east side of Oshawa, home of GM in Canada.

Rydell's in Grand Forks,ND is supposed to be a Hummer dealer sometime this summer. Maybe one of their people got to have a demo to create some interest?

I saw a bit of info today on them in a company publication. 1 item was a list of Cdn. dealers.

Also, if the can put 35" tires on them (they're basically a Suburban on a 2500HD chassis), why can't they put some half decent tires on a pick up? *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

I saw one Sunday. *A GM big wig is friends with my Neighbour and it was parked out front. *Had a good look at it. *After he left, my neighbour told me I should have asked, and he would have let me take it for a drive.

####, gotta stop being shy.

I think I would prefer the Military version more. *Looks more manly.

The 6 L engine in the H2 will make 316 HP & 360 lb-ft of torque (don't ask me for the metric equivalent, I don't know or care http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif )

Tires are 35" BFG All Terrains (Shoulda been the Mud Terrains http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif )

Rims are 17' x 8.5" cast aluminum.

The Cdn. dealers are:

Plaza Chev/Olds/Cadillac in St. Laurent, PQ

Surgenor GMC Truck Center in Ottawa

Surgenor Pontiac/Buick in Ottawa

Roy Foss Motors in Thornhill Ont.

Shaw GMC/Pontiac in Calgary, Alberta

Southgate Pontiac/Buick/GMC in Edmonton, Alberta

Dueck Chev/Olds/Cadillac/HUMMER in Vancouver, BC

Dan: when you find out the Vibe won't tow *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif you can drive over to Plaza & trade it in. *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I dont know about the hummers H1 and H2. *To me the H2 doesnt look that good. *

And the H1. *I only drove one once and I saw a snowbank that wasnt that big. *I drove over it and got stuck. *

Ended up having to pull it out with my durango. *And belive me. *Pulling out a hummer is not an easy task.

I thought a winch was standard on hummers

In the info that I got the dealer listing, there was mention of a winch receiver (?) in the front. It was probably written by someone who wouldn't know a winch from a wench *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif *http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Checked the HUMMER website & it says there are front & rear HITCH receivers. The estimated winch capacity (I assume single line) is 9000 lbs. There is no mention of what brand, Warn, Ramsey etc.

It had a winch. *It was a warn winch. *But there was no where to attach it to. *If i connected it to the durango it would have just pulled that. *Remeber this was in snow in the middle of a parking lot. *It was a bad situation.

I even tried to inflat the tires with the onboard switch to try and get some more clearence because i was hung up. *It didnt work.

When they get stuck belive me, They get stuck.

I don't know if Permafrost or LadyK are keeping it a secret, but I saw another yellow H2 in Apsley on Saturday http://www.snowmobileworld-s2.com/forums/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif There is already a member of the Paudash Trailblazers (the local club) that has a yellow H1.
