: To Buy, Or Not To Buy
Bauer 09-27-2004, 11:23 PM Ok, I need a different sled. I found a pretty decent 99 mxz 700 136x1.75, seems to be in decent condition, for 3600 bucks. Now, i can sell the XLT for 2100, tomorrow. So, i would have to take out a 1600 dollar loan pretty much so that i could pay the taxes/insurance on it (i also have some cash saved up, not a whole pile though) Now, i have a job right now untill freeze up, and i will have one at the hill in early dec (my boss garanteed me me a job when i took my application in a week ago). So, do i take out a loan and buy, or do i just sit on my wallet and wait till spring and get a different one.
keep in mind, i will not get near as good of price for mine in the spring, and i CAN NOT be with out a sled for the season.
Gimme some good advice.

betchacantcatchmaCat 09-27-2004, 11:31 PM Nobody knows your financial situation better than you do. New toys are always nice, but only if you can pay for them. If the new sled will leave you without money to actually get out and ride it or do other things you want to do, it's probalbly better to keep what you've got.
A 700cc twin engine in '99? :p
S chassis 670?
ZX chassis 600?
Sure its a 99?
:D
Bauer 09-28-2004, 07:45 AM I don't know man, its on the trader, it says its a 99 700, its a zx chassis.
Russ Wheeler 09-28-2004, 07:46 AM There was a 99.5 700, was there not?
And I'm sure you'll get quite a variety of responses here...
Some guys will tell you to pay cash and thats the only way to go.
Others will tell you to finance.
All I'll tell you is you're young, so be careful when you start racking up debt. If you can afford it comfortably, then go for it. But it really sucks being a teenager who's stressing out about bills all the time, you've got the whole rest of your life to do that...
Bauer 09-28-2004, 07:52 AM I just checked, and its off of the trader now, it must be sold.

no it was a 600 in the ZX chassis.
Bauer,
i would sooner see a young fellow like yourself overspend $1000.00 on a sled then spend a nickel on pot.
FreezerBurnt 09-28-2004, 08:24 PM :bash: YES THERE WAS A 99 MXZ 700 :bash:
Some called it a 99.5 as it was released in limited numbers in Jan 99 :sly:
paul yarek 09-28-2004, 08:31 PM i stand corrected by the BIG MAN himself. i just did a search and the big FB is right.
FreezerBurnt 09-28-2004, 08:37 PM I :inlove: with Paul
Russ Wheeler 09-28-2004, 08:54 PM Haha well thanks paul, makes me feel better about spending all my money on sledding..

when i am wrong around Freezerburnt i better let him know. anyone else i can usually get by with a little bull business, LOL.
Bauer 09-29-2004, 08:47 AM Paul, i like to have some beer or whiskey on the weekends, but i don't touch that stuff. I know people who do it, and don't look down on them, but i won't.
The mxz is out, but there is a 98 RMK 700, 141 x 2, 3200 miles, $3200. Seems to look decent in the pic. Is it a good sled? Lots of power? Could pay cash by oct 3. Good Buy?
Thanks
Bauer

permafrost 09-29-2004, 09:23 AM The 99's were a sand cast motor as it was the first cylinder reed motors that they put into production. Some of these motors had a problem with slag in the cooling ports due to the casting process. This was changed for 2000, but then they had the crank/oil issue for that year. I would get a 2001 or 2002 ,700 if that was the sled I was looking for. Later Perm
