Snowmobile World. com Annual Ride will be held in Newberry Michigan this year.
What I need right now is how many of you are going and how many rooms you will need
The ride dates are Feb 9 (Wednesday) 10 (Thursday) 11 (Friday).
Also let me know if you will be arriving early (Sunday, Monday...ect) and or leaving late

HOTEL INFO: Super 8 Motel 7540 State Highway M-123 Newberry has set aside 28 rooms for our ride. The rooms are $69.00 per night for upto 4 people in a room.
Zellars Vilage Inn which is right next to the Super 8 and is managed by the same person has set aside 20 rooms for the ride as well. These rooms are $55.00 per night. Zellars has a restaurant as well as a lounge. They also have an indoor pool as well as a jaquzzi for us to use.
Rooms for both motels will be held for our ride date (feb 9, 10, 11) until Jan. 20th. if you are planning on going up early and or leaving late I would suggest you make reservations right away. At this time both motels have rooms from Sat. the 5th through Sun. the 13th. Cost for the additional days are the same as the ride dates. There is plenty of parking and we can ride from our doors.
To make reservations Call Gail or Cheri @ 906-293-5114 (both motels) and tell them that you are with the Snowmobileworld ride and they will take care of you.

I will be their with at least one buddy if he can put up with my snoring.
So do I just go ahead and make a reservation for one room and see what happens from there?
Is the 9-10-11 going to be actual full riding days or do we need to be their on the 8th to settle in? Mike

I would say the 9th will a settle in day in the am and meet up at noon, get acquainted and ride from there...this is subject to change but that would be the best bet right now. It looks like most are making the week of it so far. If that is going to be the case we will plan a full on ride day for the 9th.
And yes, I would go ahead and make the reservations. If needed you can cancel later

Brian

You haven't heard snoring until you have heard me. Ask Idooski! Every time I stay up at his cabin, he has to fix loose boards when I leave :D

What is this ride going to benefit? Anything? Or is it just a ride?

We are going to raffle off prizes donated by others and we will have a 50/50 raffle. The funds raised by selling tickets for both raffles will benefit Autism research.

We are also asking everyone that comes to bring up a couple canned goods that will be donated to goodfellows in Newberry. They help the needy out in the Newberry area.

Great. My sister is an specialist in the autism program at a local school district.
What if a friend of mine and i just wanted to hook up with all of you for a day or so. Also, do you have to stay at these hotels listed?
We're not a huge fan of staying in NewBerry. Just my personal opinion.
Thanks.

It would be great if you came for atleast a day or two...your friend too. And no, you don't have to stay in the hotels listed.

You don't have to stay with everyone at the hotels listed, but we've arranged special pricing on the rooms. Besides, what better way to get to know the other riders than to hang at the same place. Also, you must be present to win any of the raffle prizes. I don't think you'll want to miss that! When you know for sure that you are going to make it, please let us know. We are trying to keep a pretty close count in order to set up the events for the week.

I guess we kind of wanted to know more of what its about before we commit. That is why I was thinking we may just at the last min. find out where you will all be one of the days, and hook up with you.
Do you usually just plan a daily ride? If so, do you split up the groups?
We all know too big of a group equals no fun.
I guess I just need to be educated.

We all know some of the problems that can arise when hitting the trail with a large group of riders. There will be different groups according to riding skills and preference. There may be a group as large as 20, but that would be on the high side and we would prefer to keep the groups smaller. Many of us will be there all week, so if you would like to hook up then, let us know. I don't think you will be able to have a bad time with the group of people that will show up from SnowmobileWorld judging from how everyone got along last year. :)

So where exactly are the items comming from for the raffles?
Is someone going around getting donated prizes from business owners?
Just wondering.

puree
11-13-2004, 10:16 PM
there are members who are putting in raffle items from their business's and mxzwfo and idooski have been speaking with some outside sources and getting prizes there also,,,,

could be some killer prizes,,, and its all for a good cause!!!!

FYI the Super 8 Motel in Newberry is very new and in good shape the pool and hot tub are nice as well. I stay there weekly and I"m sure you will all have a good stay there. The Zellar's are good people. I'm hoping I will be able to make for a day with you folks. I think during your ride it is "Take your sled to work day" for one of those days..... :).

Also my association will be conducting a Poker Run the following Thursday (Feb 17). This will be a fund raiser for our Timber PAC and a portion is being donated to the local snowmobile association. If any of you are frequent visitors to the Newberry area and want more information regarding the Poker Run or in general please let me know. If I cant answer it I'm sure I can find the answer or at least make one up that is believable. I'm new to the snowmobiling scene so am limited on that knowledge.

trails were GREAT!!! All 82 miles that I rode. I dropped a piston in the firecat, Jeff smacked and I beam and left a day early to get his fixed down in Gaylord. At least he and his father got in a few mile down at Gaylord,,,, gone awol and myself spent 2 days in the garage trying to get this one together to ride a little,,,, NO GO

What we did ride north of Newberry was excellent,,, stutter bumps out to 4 mile staging area, but its always kinda rough through there,,, after that the trails were great,,, couple of nice powder fields that we played in for a bit,,,,
they are now grooming the south trail to Trout lake and they say it was nice,,, the trail to the falls had some rough spots, but overall it was pretty good (so they say)
groomers were not out the day we arrived and didnt go out till the following night,,, blizzard warnings and lots of drifting,,,,
but,,, we all came back alive!!!!

Decided I'am coming hell or high water.
Called Zellars and cancelled my double bed room and took a single so someone wouldn't be out because I had 2 beds.
Couldn't find anyone who would go during the week so I will have to foot the whole bill!
Figured what the heck, only rode 600 miles this year and its half over already. See you guys Tuesday sometime.

Gang,
Take myself and the misses off the list of attendees, a long list of bad luck has fallen squarely on my head. I cancelled my rezy at the super 8 tonight if they are full and someone needs a room.
Maybe next year, enjoy!
