Since I've never owned a Yamaha before, I don't know much about them. A friend of mine has always owned Yamahas and swears by them.
I hope I like it. What do I do if I like it more than my Cat? Sell the Cat or sell the Yamaha and buy a newer Cat??
I can't wait to try it out and see how it rides. All I can do at this time is sit on it and pretend I'm racing. Hopefully nobody's looking through the garage windows!

Congrats and welcome to the blue blood world. You'll like the Yamaha's reliability, you might not like the suspension as much. I have 1 Yamaha, 3 cats and 1 Ski-Doo in my garage-room in my life for each!
Again, Happy Sledding!

The suspension sucks; you'll hate it compared to your Cat.
But, the light weight and agility are pretty awesome.

The suspension on the 2000 Phazer is pretty bad, hey? Just from looking at it and sitting on it, I thought it would be nice. I guess I won't really know until we get some snow!
Everyone's been telling me that the Yamaha engines are very strong and reliable, so that's definitely a plus.
Now, I just need to start adding the extras to it. Give it that look to match my style. Time to go shopping!!!

IMO, your cat suspension wasnt much better than the Phazer that you have now. The Phazer will be a lot more comfy and fun to ride, better seat, better feel, better everything. They have pretty good zip. The older Phazers, Phazer II's with a single pipe were great sleds and will go forever and very light weight (which made them seem faster back then). My uncle has a 90 Phazer II and it has over 13,000 miles on in, never a problem at all. You will be happy with your 00', they are bulletproof trail machines that you wont ever see broke down. Might be towing an old 580 likes yours once in awhile actually!! :whistling:  Yamaha has the best engine quality and componants, hands down. Good Luck!

You should like that Phazer. It's a nice light sled. Yamaha's are known for reliability, but those Phazers are indestructable! That sled will probably outlast you! lol

you could always add some high quality shocks to it, and a pipe

pipes dont really do that much but put a hole in your poclet and add more noise. ive had a crazy idea about puting a dirtbike pipe on my sled. to bad i havent had the time or know how to hook it up.

Rip - pipes work very well with phazers. Not sure why, but the hp gain is right around 10-15, and very noticable.
